SHHHH! Don't tell anyone, its not for the faint of heart. Contained within is a demonstration of the ancient martial art of Pretzel Jutsu.
This technique is a bit of fun but actually is what I call a Genri waza or pedagogical technique. Although you probably wont use this technique in its entirety in one go each section demonstrates and teaches specific principles or ideas which are used in conjunction with other techniques to build specific skills and understanding for students. You can use sections of this technique very effectively for self-defence but I wouldn't try to utilise the whole thing. Remember first rule of Secret Pretzel Jutsu club... don't talk about Secret Pretzel Jutsu club... only joking share this with your mates.

Thanks Will, no one asked but thanks for the useless info. Aspects of this technique were used historically in conjunction with hojojutsu the art of binding with a rope to restrain, however I don’t think anyone disagrees this wouldn’t be applied like this in most modern contexts. Techniques can be looked at in context and with some minor modifications you can derive perfectly effective methods of guard passing from this if that was your desire. Classical techniques are often classical for a reason.
