Jerry Stiller (Mr. Costanza) was really the only seasoned actor on the show. Jason Alexander (George) was a Broadway actor also. The others were all stand up comedians in nature.

It's not like he starts swearing at and berating everyone when they mess up He just has a bit more of a serious personality than the others and would rather bring everyone back together to finish the scene than let them keep laughing for like 5 minutes without getting anything done.
