people called cell phones "car phones" in the beginning ,even tho technically they were not. cell phones were bulky at first so we didn't usually carry them and they stayed in the car. I remember.

The thing about Seinfeld is it takes a few episodes. Alot of the premise is everything that happens in an episode ends up affecting the end of one.

I love this show. So many hilarious episodes. Before cell phones were a thing ... some cars had car phones. The funny thing in the Switch episode ..Jerry goes through with the plan and suggests a manage et trios with his girlfriend and her roommate .. and she was into it. 😂 Not what he expected.

Seinfeld kinda started being show about a laid back comedian who has weird friends who hang around in his apartment (often uninvited). However, the humor quickly moved on to being about the core bunch putting themselves into socially awkward situations and then blowing the situation way out of proportion. However, the characters also got more self-centered and callous (eg the Junior Mint incident where they do not tell the doctors). A lot of the humor can be really cringeworthy yet still funny.

Pretty old show?!?! 😂 you should check out I Love Lucy 😅 it's amazing. 1955 and created by a Cuban immigrant. Desi Arnaz invented the multi camera tv show setup.

No, this is wrong. You can't watch it like this. You have to watch the original episodes in their entirety. In their original context. That's the only way to understand it.

Carphones were a thing in the late 80s and early 90s before cell phones were a thing. They were very expensive so it was a status symbol.

In the 1993 film, "The Fugitive" Harrison Ford's character used a car phone. Being a Surgeon, he could obviously afford one. OTOH Michael Douglas's character used a very large mobile phone device while walking on the beach in the 1986 film, "Wall Street". It was a phone attached to a very large suit case, probably carrying a suitcase sized battery.

when cell phones first came on the scene ,they were referred to as "car phones", even though technically they were not (real car phones are wired via the car,etc..). Cell phones back then were still bulky and most people didn't carry them so they stayed in the car. I remember referring to them as 'car phones ' at first, as well.

That was the worst edited compilation of scenes from a tv show. You couldn't tell what was going on so jokes fell pretty flat. Horrible representation of such a good show.

Yeah, I'm a huge Seinfeld fan and I can't watch this compilation. Especially for a first time viewer, you absolutely have to have the context of the entire episode for these to be as funny as they should be. Without the context, the only thing funny is their mannerisms and the jokes, only on the very surface. The whole episode is needed to see the plot development and how the characters are navigating through the material, as they constantly reference earlier parts of the episode and create jokes through the sheer repetitive nature of some of the catch phrases.
