"My father created a holiday called Festivus, which involved an aluminum pole, airing of grievances,...and feats of strength." Seinfeld (the series) expertly showed how a conversation can be derailed, by orders of magnitude, when participants go off on tangents or ask questions wholly unrelated to the initial premise: George is concerned about Andrea Doria; next thing you know we’re talking about Gordon Lightfoot. Same result happens in the episode at the car dealership repair office over Clark Bars and Baby Ruth’s: “A NICKEL!”
