I love how unique the danganronpa artstyle is. It's anime but you just know that it's danganronpa, due to the cool little designs in each character, the eyes, the shading. Personally, in a way, to me, the art has always felt rather gothic and it's probably due to the shading (not so much in dr2 though, i love how vibrant that game is) That sort of style feels really enhanced in DRV3 though

Yeah it's a very unique take on anime, most notably the pupils are not a huge shining circle but instead a simple black dot with a white circle or design around it. Though I would say that DR2's colors look pretty dark compared to V3's shiny bright sprites

I love that it’s clear Leon and Sakura were clearly the first developed because of how little their whole thing changed and how they were killed off partially because everyone on the dev team was sick of them by the time it came to proper storyboarding and implement. They used them for every era of development, of style checking, of Storyboarding, everything, and the team got sick of drawing them by the end.

I honestly prefer some of the beta designs over some of the original designs. Like some of them give potential for really cool twists(e.g; Maki's beta design, it would have been a good twist to have someone who legitimately looks like a child care taker to be an assassin imo.)

I could tell from the beginning that Maki was supposed to be the "mysterious one". Which I didn't exactly like? ((I still like Maki)) but it's so obvious. The reveal that she was an assassin wasn't even surprising. It was like: "oh.."

yeah if maki looked like her beta design then it would’ve been more convincing that she was actually a child caretaker. It would’ve also helped if she had like a split personality (?) like she actually seemed like a child caretaker and was really kind but then she could also be like her canon self and be rude / Threatening. Honestly, the old art style looked really good, and fit into how Danganronpa used to be so much darker. The current style, on the other hand, has a more cartoony style. It really fits into how the game is more of a weird mix of kids music with murder and death. Edit: Typo
