I know this video is old and I'm just now seeing this so you might have completed your task by now. However, I just LOVE the way your book looks - all of the hand written energy on each page...the look of it - and how it just pleases the senses! I would definitely keep it as-is. It's amazing.

The background music though :} I made a copy of the actual book in Practical Magic. There are no tutorials so the book I made was a prototype. It turned out near perfect. I just want to do it bigger but I'm not 100% on the size of the actual book. If I recall that book is also bound with pegs instead of sewn... Yours is gorgeous btw

Your BOS is awesome! I am making yet another book, a postbound book. I've decided to make a list of illistrations that I would like to inlcude in my book, I'll make them on thicker paper... I also have a pack of scrapbook paper...im honestly not too sure how I would like to include it in my book. I wish there were more BOS sneak peaks like yours. I feel like artists have a harder time with putting their books together because...in a way we are perfectionists, to our own taste... if that makes sense lol. Ive seen beautiful blank journals at great prices but, again, I really need a post bound BOS. Right now I'm inspired by Alice in wonderland, the nightmare before Xmas, beetlejuice, a series of unfortunate events. Thanks for sharing!

Love the way you did these pages and the hole adding pieces. So awesome. Everything looks really nice. You're a lot more focused on how it looks than I am. I've mostly got words scribbled all over the place. But then, it's just my preliminary info gathering stage. I'll make nice looking pages later. Currently I'm putting gesso in a book and pulling magical info out of old journals. ;p Thanks for sharing! Really love the way it looks! You're definitely getting to that practical magic feel.
@BroomClosetArtistry7 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes there is definite control issues i have with my book. I love that you're gessoing pages into a book. SO MUCH TEXTURE !
@kitdubhran29687 жыл бұрын
Broom Closet Artistry yes! At first I felt how chalky the pages were and I was kind of ick. But I've added watercolour and I know I can add stuff to it of different textures, so long as it doesn't kill the binding. It's a book of poetry I bought cheap, so you can still see the little children's poems through the gesso. I like how that adds to it and also informs what I put on each page. Also! Thought, you could try putting some kind of acrylic paint on the plastic hole things maybe in a brown colour, and it would look like leather.

I really like the vellum page you used at the very front. And thanks so much for including the link to the adhesive strips. I’ve been trying to find some of those but the only ones I’ve found came in boxes of 20 for something like $15 and considering I would need many boxes the cost would be outrageous.
@BroomClosetArtistry7 жыл бұрын
PrettyAliceMoon awe yeah!!! I wish i could find different patters and weights for that vellum ! Im glad you can use the link. It took a little searching thats for sure.

I made my own with double sided tape. The very sticky scrapbooking tape. I cut down the plastic page protectors leaving an inch or so to tape and it works about the same, and the protectors are a lot cheaper.

Very very beautiful book! I'm doing something very similar. If you don't like seeing the plastic, you can use washi tape over it and punch new holes into it....On the same place of course. Since I understand the language on the front, I wonder where you are from. I'm from Bosnia.
@BroomClosetArtistry3 жыл бұрын
Hi welcome! Yes hopefully when I fully tie the binding you won’t see the plastic at all- that’s a great idea with the washy tape. my father came from Yugoslavia in the 60s but we identify as Croatian. So nice to meet you!
