! ! IMPORTANT ! ! A pretty major error within the video (the wiki thing is a bit ironic now, isnt it?): - Stages only exist for guarding, guard inputs after deflecting work differently. - Input after deflect instead triggers an additive animation which gives you 300ms (18 frames) worth of deflect frames (a000_299060) - The additive itself is a full second long - Speffect 100285 (Jasuga addition) is what gives you the said additive, but it can only be done once - When speffect 100285 is active, and you already have the additive, you can not input a deflect. Issue with this system, is that each deflect animation resets your jasuga addition (100285) back to 300ms, and because you can not input another guard during it, you arent able to reset the animation for more frames. This can cause a desync which makes you vulnerable. Lets say you input an additive animation 125ms before an attack hits you. You now deflect the attack, and have 175ms of deflect frames left. The jasuga addition is now reset back to 300ms, but your leftover deflect frames arent. So now your deflect frames end in 175ms, but your jasuga addition is 300ms, which makes you vulnerable for the 125ms leftover. If youre not sure what an additive animation is, its what plays on top of whatever is going on (it does not override the existing animation). Sorry for the inconveniences once again. Also, random info regarding umbrella since I've seen some people interested: - Umbrella has 24 deflect frames on open, and 48 on spin (they kick in from frame 0, so there is no timing involved) - Umbrella has its own deflect logic, but it basically makes all the hits super small (like DL8)

From my understanding, floating passage 4x can be deflected with only three L1 input. 1st L1: deflect 1st hit 2nd L1: deflect 2nd & 3rd hit(Jasuga addition is active for only 2nd hit, because the time interval between 2nd & 3rd hit is smaller than 300ms.) 3rd L1: deflect 4th hit Do I understand your comment correctly?
@IItsIgor6 ай бұрын
@@mmZar uhh from memory, first 2 hits are spaced out enough to where you can do those in 2 inputs. The last 2 hits however, are within that 300ms range where jasuga addition is active, so you need to do 2 deflects in 1 input

So basically, according to this video, people who parry one mind without dashing/using tech in Vanilla Sekiro are cheaters. Good to know and great work!

Nice video, now I finally understood deflecting properly. Just a suggestion, don’t blur the filler gameplay unrelated to the video all the time, unless some information is on the screen.

Yeah, I tried to simplify it by using the "ripping the bandaid" approach (shooting the info quickly, so as to not make it boring), and segment it so people can come back to bits which might have been confusing. Sorry if I failed to deliver on that.

Umbrella has 24 frames on open, and 48 on spin. Deflecting with it does not build stages

Thanks for this video, I think (?) I understand a lot more about Sekiro now. Just had two questions: 1) Why is the 10-hit flurry from Centipede NOT a problematic attack? Is the attack speed just too slow to trigger the issue? 2) Is it possible to release a public mod for the game to avoid entering the 4th stage (or maybe leaving some deflect frames on the 4th stage)?
@IItsIgor6 ай бұрын
1. centipede attacks hit at an interval of ~316ms, which is just enough for accepting the input to guard. 2. The explanation of stages is true for first input, not consecutives (my mistake in the video, pinned comment explains the consecutive deflect). I have created a small mod to address this sort of thing (along with other oddities) www.nexusmods.com/sekiro/mods/1917

what if i like press the guard button and release as i soon as i can, will the deflect animation still be 15 frames?
@IItsIgor6 ай бұрын
if you mean like double inputting, guard then you can get 12 + 6 frames with maybe a frame or 2 between due to human error. As for inputting after a deflect, I've made a couple errors, so its worth reading the pinned comment.

am I the only one who is surprised by how Inner owl used mist raven 6 times in a row @03:29, on a serious note very nice video, was an interesting watch. and some things that I would be curious about is why some of the attacks have multiple hitbox such as Owl's chasing slice if deflected at close range or Juzou's hand attack or Armored warrior, or why does your posture break even if you deflect if you are on Poison during GSO fight.
@IItsIgor2 ай бұрын
Owl's has 8 DL10 (sword drag animation) hitboxes which last 1 frame each (last one is 2 frames). Juzou has DL10 hitboxes which last 3 frames each. Armored warrior has a body hitbox which happens after you deflect the DL10 (presumably its intended purpose is to destroy terrain, but it has posture damage, which can cause stuff like that). DL10 doesnt accept your block input for 1 full second, which means you cant deflect, so you end up blocking the other attack(s). As for poison, it might just be fromsoft jank, I'm honestly not sure. Oh and big thanks for watching!

So, If I spam deflect, can I add those speffects one by one, essentially giving me 12+6+3 frames on parry window? Because speffect always happens at the very beginning.
@justsomeotherguywithamusta68102 ай бұрын
No. The first deflect has 12. The second has 6 and third 3. The franes are inside the animation. Meaning the animation takes X amount of frames only 12 of them are deflection. If you spam basically it's harder to deflect

@@justsomeotherguywithamusta6810 But If I play my cards right, I can combine the 12 + 6 + 3 all together right? because they are always at the beginning.

@@chinmayhota8983 no, since it takes 200ms (12 frames) before you can input for the next deflecting animation, so you end up having "dead zones" with no deflect frames.
