It won't lock you into the purification ending. You can kill Owl and get the prayer bead, then continue with Dragon Homecoming

Emma moves upstairs right after you eavesdrop Kuro when he says "do what must be done". You also have to rest at an idol to trigger it. You MUST do these steps after you defeat Owl at the top of Ashina Castle and before you fight the Divine Dragon.

I can tell you from my experience, I am pretty sure that killing the divine dragon is the cutoff point doing the requirements for the father’s bell charm. I had to new game plus another purification ending to get those 2 prayer beads.

Yea you’ll have to replay the game. I should have followed a guide but the dragon was easy so I’m just like lemme finish this. And then I couldn’t do shit anymore cause Kuro was gone.
