Hi Michael! 1. For the main menu, a screen reader should announce the state such as "Expanded/Collapsed". 2. For a menu item within the dropdown: Depending upon how you have coded a menu. Usually, they're either links or buttons, so a screen reader will read them either as link or a button. No additional context needs to be provided. I would encourage to put them in a tag so that a user understands how many items are available under that menu item. Let me know when you have follow-up questions or need clarifications.

Yes, you can use HTML for dropdown. The only downside is that you cannot customize the look and feel of it using CSS.
