On the Adley-Salvy WAR discrepancy: Baserunning and defense favor Dadley on both Fangraphs and Ref as mentioned. The aspect that skews it more in Chadley's favor is the park adjusted numbers. While their triple slash is nearly identical, Clutchman has better park adjusted numbers 131 wRC+ to 123. In conclusion ☝🤓, WAR is for nerds and Salvy has the best teeth in the game.

This comment will get lost in the mix, but last year I traveled from Maryland to Seattle to go to the JM All Star Event and simultaneously get the chance visit my brother who was working at Whidbey Island repairing ships. The event was a fantastic time for my brother and I even though he had no idea what Jomboy Media was, and really only had a passing interest in MLB. Either way, my brother tragically passed away in September of last year, just a few months after the event. I didn’t get a chance to see him again so there’s this weird association I have with the last time I saw him and the JM All Star Event. Honestly it’s a great way to have his memory in my mind and it’s still kind of chokes me up to think about it now. I wish I could make it this year and I want to go every single year from now on as a way to kind of remember his legacy. Unfortunately this year I have Army orders because I am in the Reserves, but I’m going to make it to every single one in the future and would recommend it to anybody who can travel out to Texas. Go JM Go and RIP Mike ❤

O'Hoppe has had a hell of a year, and an incredible June. Walk offs, Grand slams, game tying homers in the 8th inning, best caught stealing throwdown ive ever seen. Him and then Estevez was the best closer by far. 10 innings of perfection in June, 26 batters in a row retired no hits no walks. Last but not least, Rengifo leading the league in Batting Average as a second baseman is a huge feat. Guys been nails, plays the field well and is clutch as it gets. @ 35: 50 - Having a 1.0 ops absolutely does not mean the player is essentially reaching first base every at bat. I'm pretty sure you actually know that, but saying that is bad info. They are having incredible years though. Now if the on base percentage itself was 1.0, then the batter is reaching at least first base each at bat.

Not sure if baseball reference has framing statistics on there. But that’s the biggest defensive difference I’ve seen. I’ve seen lots of video of Salvy repeatedly give up on balls on corners, and have some horrific attempts at framing. I tried to find similar clips of Adley and they literally don’t exist. I think the dWAR difference is likely because Adley helps his pitchers out lots more than Salvy
@dingo535Ай бұрын
I'm sure if they did some digging thy could have found a catcher with a higher OPS than .642 but I could be wrong. Also Plouffe, I won't say that Abrams is an elite defender but people are overreacting and cherry picking his bad plays to be haters no doubt. He is serviceable at the very least and even manages to flash on occasion. EDIT: Welp, I only checked one player and he was at .552 so perhaps Will Smith is the leader in the clubhouse.

@wind_runner6836Ай бұрын
Adley hands down sorry WAR is actually a pretty intuitive stat that attempts to tell you how good you are compared to a regular average player. It is The number of runs above average a player is worth in his batting, baserunning and fielding + adjustment for position + adjustment for league + the number of runs provided by a replacement-level player / runs per win that is WAR. Also, the whole they are the same argument is destroyed by the WAR argument. Salvador will only give you an extra win and a half over your regular average player Adley is legit double that meaning Adley is worth TWO Salvadors IE Adley is twice as good.
