There are so many references to Justin here it’s crazy. The “set fire to my purpose “ is about Justin’s purpose album ( he said in several interviews three songs were about Selena on that album ). “ in two months you replaced us “ basically they were off and on for 7-8 years and the last time they got back together he broke it off in 2 months and married Hailey 😳. It was crazy. The lyrics of “ made me think I deserved it in the thick of healing “ was bc after her kidney transplant he got back in touch with her concerned , invited her to his dads wedding then BAm broke it off and married Hailey two months later. Only few singers in their generations can make songs that Truly touches the heart, and Selena is one of them, if not the only one (in pop music). Not a great singer but sing she does, and according to Billboards history of big hits such vocals are not needed: Good MUSIC is. More so, her voice is so beautiful, so much heart, passion, soul. I had myself but she set fire to it herself and let it burn because she loved him so much she just put everything about her on the back burner. To me who’s been in a well I try not to say the word but Seems like narcissism of a lower level so to speak was used here. So the above verse . When your in a relationship with a narcissist their main objective is to keep you not feeling so good about yourself so they have the upper hand . To get what they want so in other words to that verse . You Sang off key( you purposely ruined it) because it wasn’t yours. ( because it wasn’t about you ) . What umm Took my hurting and made it yours... thats a real real specific hit that someone who’s ever been in that type of relationship knows she’s calling him out on being narcissistic. Because if they hurt you in anyway it will be twisted like. I never said that, or your way to sensitive you took it the wrong way or they will just .. ya know every time I say something you always make it seem like I am cutting you down . It hurts my feelings . So they just took the hurt they put on you and made it theirs without ever acknowledging what they did. Now you what... You feel bad again. Just like they want you too. All to divert attention from them. Made me feel like I deserved it in the thick of healing. She was recovering from her kidney transplant and he in less then 3 months announced his engagement because he asked her to marry him but she wouldn’t until they went through counseling because of their 10 year off and in relationship. She had just been dating The Weekend for a bit and probably reaffirmed her suspicions that he was screwing with her head because I am sure the Weekend treated her really well ya know . So they went to some counseling but probably were getting to the point where he was going to be had on exactly what he was doing so he asked her to marry him thinking it would prove he really really lived her and she said no not right now. So to puss her off to get her to break up with him so it wouldn’t look like he was the dirt bag . While she was ending filming of a movie he was spotted coming out of a hotel room with a model he had apparently been with all night long at a bar with a friend and 4 am with his hoodie in and it wasn’t like he was trying to hide it at all from the paparazzi. So she ended it. So he got engaged and married to spite her and make it seemed like yeah now I married someone else and you deserved it. It’s all your fault for trying to make me go to counseling and not loving me just for me. See how that just twisted to be ALL HER FAULT . But guess what she just putted you to the whole freakin world in the most sincere, mature professional artistic way with hidden messages to jet you know I know EXACTLY what you were doing to ne and now so does everyone else . All the while really just doing this for herself to say the things she never got to say but also letting Karma do UTA Jin without having to do anything more but for herself. Pretty awesome huh. BAM 💥 Gods got a way of teaching you a lesson when you dint show compassion and empathy for others but always get it yourself. It’s called Disrespect. Well now you know how it feels.
