Self awareness is so important but difficult to master, prior to my bi polar diagnosis I wasn't really aware of my mood patterns being abnormal, although it seems obvious after treatment and more education

Absolutely! It is so difficult if NO ONE helps you figure it out. Do you think self-awareness helped you in understanding yourself better?

@Life Space Collective it did, and I pride myself on being knowledgeable about mental health, even my Dr missed the signs, it took a psychiatric nurse to diagnose me, Bi Polar 2 is tricky because your not in outer space when manic, your not hallucinating, you actually feel great, confident, productive.....for a time, until the brutal depression crashes into you

So, Most people are not going to recognize that something is "off" Especially if they feel really good, Plus before I was diagnosed I had never heard of a part 2, for Bi Polar, Up until that time I thought my polar disorder was Bi polar one

Oops, I thought Bi Polar was only Bi Polar 1, I'm also certain that my mother had it and that my disorder was activated by trauma

Have YOU become self-aware? If so, how has it impacted your life?

I don’t know if anyone ever truly becomes 100% self aware, but I do think that with continuous practice it becomes easier and easier to understand your thoughts and recognize when they are coming from logic vs emotion. When your thoughts are coming from emotion it’s important to process and work through that emotion before taking action on that thought. Acting on purely emotion can cause so much harm to not only yourself but all the relationships that surround you. (Can you tell Im going through something? Lol 🥲)

I feel like 70% autopilot and 30% self-aware to process important parts of our lives and appreciate life so much more.
