Yeah, this is looking like a real van that is made for its purpose. Not polished to end, but functional, fun and with character. I like it.

Absolutely Awesome! - I am close to pulling the trigger for a Iveco Daily III 2.8 85HP L3H2, which is close to finish, with an imporant amount of tech already installed - kitchen, water, hot water, battery, some furniture. You gave me some nice inspirations for the finish build. I already planned to install a wood burner, also for cooking, as I want to use the van mostly for winter season. Great work, I love it!

Jesus! I was following your van vids when you only had a few videos up way back, and the van was white with a table, (sadly not been able to keep up), but I do dip in now and again :) even then I said this has to be one of the best vans out there, (as I would have it) Now, there really is no denying it! I hope you dont mind if I poach several ideas off you for my build, hopefully see you on the road one day Ash! And thanks for all the inspiration! 🤘

its crazy how much our vans evolve over time , and when you sum up how much we spend i bet you could add on another 1k or 2k for stupid things you forget like tech added cables lights and brackets it all adds up , and continues to add up . im looking for a bigger van now for another build myself

I've got a LWB 2.3 litre 2004 Iveco Daily, registered as a camper van that will soon be up for sale... I'm getting another much newer van... for me, it isn't worth spending any more money on doing it up... but you're right... it is an absolute beast of a van. Even the 2.3 has got some guts in it...

EPIC build Ash we have these at work one has been hit so many times the body is almost ROUND! But as its an airport wagon no one cares BUT they still keep going, these are built like Abrahams main battle tanks! Was toying with an Iveco or Sprinter as they are much bigger than the LWB sprinter! But.....a bloke at work was flogging a ‘Trainspotter’ for pennies so.....i grabbed it....🤷🏼♂️ BLIMEY your ‘start panel’ is like a Boeing 777 mate, do you do ‘pre flight checks?😧🤔Love the camera set up initially my heap was a ‘stealth camper’ but as i add more its getting a bit obvious and i want to bang some windows in . Those cameras would have helped as people come up at night to see whats worth nicking! 😂😂👍🏻 Proper job mate👏🏻

A drawback with having the solar panels in series is that if one of them would be shaded it will limit the other solar panel. (Shaded panels will act like resistors) Might be worth taking in consideration if it ever becomes an issue.
@LillaHusVanlife4 жыл бұрын
The plus side of series, Kim, is that the panels start charging the batteries earlier in the day and until later in the evening, due to the higher voltages it puts out for low light conditions, triggering the charge cycle. Everything converts back to the same amp and volts, through your MPPT, but the longer charge times, mean you'll get more charge into your batteries per day, assuming you park away from direct shade, of course.

It looks like you use the diesel heater as your primary source of heat so what makes the wood heater a "game changer". Also, what did you do about the firewood bringing in insects into the van, particularly ones that could damage the wood used in your renovations. Have you tried using the diesel heater on waste vegetable oil or on biodiesel made from waste vegetable oil? I appreciate that a wood heater benefits from free fuel particularly at campsites that provide firewood but if you could get free fuel from restaurants for your diesel hearse, wouldn't that be a "game changer"?

wish id waited a bit longer and bought a stealth camper rather than my fiat ducato 1991 old motorhome, its ok but attracts too much attention, because i may be homeless sometime and that's one of the reasons why i bought it,campsites may be closed again because of this covid situation; its very difficult to find anywhere to get a few hours sleep without it attracting so much attention, i like my van but its had 15 owners so that puts people off from buying ,even though its a good camper,love yours it's absolutely ideal😀👍
@TheTunderkill4 жыл бұрын
Really nice build - If I ever get around to building my dream van, I'll be stealing a ton of ideas from you! If you don't mind, I have a few questions: Have you insulated the garage in any way, or insulated the backdoors? Do you own all of the tools you've used to build everything? Do you regret not being able to sit up in bed? How does the wifi amplifier work? Is it free, public wifis you connect to or is it your own signal? Have you ever worried about your van's extremities (chimney, KZbin-handle on the side of the car) tattling on you? I mean, I absolutely love your wood burner, but it is not very common for a car to have a chimney. Is stealthiness important to you? And the most important one of all: I read you're a professional photographer; how did you gain the expertise/confidence to build and/or implement the various things in the van (e.g. all of the carpentry, the kitchen, the whole electrical system...). I have watched a whole lot of videos on van - dwelling/life/conversion just like you did you. But when I start thinking, really thinking, about converting a van, I get kind of unsure about whether I'll be able to do it. Did you really just throw yourself into it and just figured it out along the way :-)? If so, how did you correct your mistakes (if you ever made any). Bit of a daft question, but I think it'd be a comfort to know how to un-screw myself in case of bad handyman-ship. Beforehand, thank you very much for the videos. You're a great screen-companion, and you inspire me to live the same kind of life. Great big cheers from Denmark - Asbjørn
