Thanks Andy, I wasn't sure which type of stick to use but seemed to get a good result with the brown & cream/white. However, tried it on a test pen & it removed the plating!

1st. Hi John, Great video once again. I have been wanting to make a buffing system for ages as the shop bought systems as far to expensive in my opinion. The wooden end pieces are brilliant. I sitting here thinking "Why didn't I think of that?" Back to your web site I go shortly. Take care John. Cheers, Huw

Hi great idea. But if you made one side a morse taper to fit you lathe you woud’nt need to use a chuck. Thanks for all the video’s.

Thanks Tom, I have made wooden morse taper before, I confess I didn't think to do it here but you are right it would be easier. As you may have noticed the small chuck I used comes with the biggest adaptor and takes up an extra 90mm of bed length so it would have been really useful.

Hi Tom, I have now made the MT2 fitting, got a chuck back and it is much quicker to mount & unmount - description has been updated & credited to you for your great suggestion. Thanks again

Good DIY version!👌Thanks. Could you just put a Jacobs chuck in the headstock and put the threaded rod directly in without the oak block and thread insert at that end ?

Have you ever had a Jacobs chuck come out of the headstock at speed? - I woudn't reccomend it unless you want to reconfigure the shape of your head!

Great video. Can you tell me what compounds and wax you've used?

Brown/ tripoli, white/cream buffing compound and Liberon wax stick. I have various other types as yet not tested but probably more for metals than wood. Hope that helps.
