Fantastic job Paul! I never thought about the stopper not fitting in the fridge if it's to tall, great point.

Yah! Nice as these look, if the stopper turned out too tall on the bottle, might make getting a new fridge a priority! 😉

I’m so glad it will be useful. If there’s anything I can do to help you as you get started with wood turning please don’t hesitate to ask. Enjoy your new art my friend. It’s the most fun that you can have in a woodshop in my opinion. Cheers sir. Paul

You're right, it is addictive so enter at your own risk! 🤣😂 I use the Niles products and love them! Carl and Ruth do an amazing job and the quality is superb! This was a great video and nice work on the stoppers! I got several of the honeycomb blanks and they're super fun to turn! They created a monster for sure! Lol

Good looking piece Paul. Also, I use gorilla Glue on all of my mandrel work. I have not had any mandrel piece blow up since doing that.

Thanks James. Good to know on the Gorilla glue. Cheers
@SkewToob
@SkewToob 2 жыл бұрын
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Gorilla Glue is water activated. It should work a little better if you, say, dip the insert in water real quick before inserting it.
@jamescarter8813
@jamescarter8813 2 жыл бұрын
@@SkewToob it is, I normally dip the metal in water add glue the insert

You’re right that it is, and you would probably be better off doing that, but if you have ever gotten that stuff on something that you didn’t want to you know that it forms a pretty good bond even without water.

Nice job Paul. Is there a reason you chose to use a threaded insert instead of just running threads directly into the stock?
@ToolMetrix
@ToolMetrix 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Harry, thank you. I've done these both ways, and the main reason that I like using the threaded insert is that they go on an off the mandrel so much easier. But you're right, that's a valid approach as well.

Can you recommend a good lathe under or around $1,000? Or 2k and below?
@ToolMetrix
@ToolMetrix 2 жыл бұрын
We use the Laguna 1216 in the Vetsturn program and that’s a great option for under $1000. For a few hundred more I like the nova 1624.
