I’ve been cutting my own hair for 22 years. And believe me I’ve messed up way worse than that. I just did it last week for the first time in like 11 years. I gave myself a eight on top but Slickback I have wavy hair. And then I’ll bring the from a 7-6-5-4 into a 2, down to a taper. But I did the same thing you did . just start picking and poking a different spots and before you know it you push Your line back. So I wound up having to go to a number 2 Caesar! Smh ps You can see my picture to the left a few weeks after I haircut I gave myself. I had a lower that down to Assisi. That should happen sometimes in a month it all grows back and we start over

a week before christmas i cut my hair down from 5 inches long, to a number 8, 1/2. I had a bit more than an inch, and I did the same thing you did. My hairline, it has never been straight and it does not have a widows peak, it's always been in a deep arc shape, and because of that, not going to the natural, then yeah it would have looked receded or strange.

I think I would have lined up the hairline a little bit higher and point cut the bangs to create separation to see if it hides the open spot. If that didn’t work then I’d just line it to the hair line

If you really want your lining back you can try PRP shots. It’s expensive but it’s basically injecting your own plasma back into the hair follicles which makes your hair grow back. I think your hair cut was really good. You just might not be used to the short cut.
