White collar guy here, ended my hands-on skill set on the wood lathe in High School. Mad respect for the machining/welding/woodwork skills. Ideas and words are powerful things, but crafting something you can hold in your hand… thank you for taking us through the process. Very satisfying.

I fixed up a piece of welding lead with a connector. I’ve been carrying it under the seat of my car for about 25 years. Luckily, I haven’t had to use it. But my brother did beat down three guys and had them crying and begging for mercy! My brother said through their T-shirts you could see the welts, turning black and blue and raising up almost the thickness of the welding lead. He beat them like rented mules!!! Your version is way more lethal!!! I like it!!!! Great job I love the outtakes at the end of your video where you’re in the dog cage !!!! Lol

A well-aimed blow of pain can quickly neutralize an attacker, pain is the key to success, this is a good artifact you have created.

@Leo.23232 Ай бұрын
that is actually the worst advice ever, pain is the one thing that wont stop a determined attacker
@Leo.23232
@Leo.23232 Ай бұрын
@@mezzb That is not supported by the evidence. If you actually watch any footage of these scenarios such as knife attacks, they attacker can be stabbed or shot over 20 times and won't even react to it at all until well after the encounter is over, despite taking lethal damage and suffering in normal circumstances massive amounts of pain. In extreme situations such as fighting for your life (even for the attacker) you are quite literally unable to feel any pain whatsoever until after the encounter is over at least. This happens every single time and there are no exceptions. The bear attack scenario is very different because the bear isn't fighting for its life, the bear spray hits it well before it even gets to you. If you were to back a bear up into a courner then start to stab it a few times, then uses the bear spray afterwards it will have no effect other than blinding it. Also i'm not commenting on the effect of the weapon only the idea that pain is an effective way to stop a determined attacker.
@Leo.23232
@Leo.23232 Ай бұрын
@@mezzb If you mean to say most scenarios don't involve a determined attacker then I don't know, maybe thats true maybe its not, but I would like to know where you are drawing the information from that most isntances of violent assaults don't involve this I'm just saying pain doesn't work in the slightest if they are actually determined to cause harm, it has a chance of working if they aren't but its a terrible method to ever rely on regardless because you probably don't know their intentions in a scenario like this. So either way, yes its terrible advice, if you need to defend yourself, do something that will actually stop someone reliably, which by the way hitting someone in the head with this whip might do, not saying it won't

Savage! Gutted about that first handle. I recommend getting a round tipped carbide tool, you need to be really gentle with resin to avoid all that chip out you got. Maybe also try and take the corners off with a 45° jig for the bandsaw or on your belt sander. And yes to the extended/2 part testing vids!

Back in the 70s or 80s my Grandmaster (Bak Mei kung fu) in Hong Kong made one of these. He showed me 20 years ago and said it was made from an elevator cable which he hand-twisted into a handle. Living in the mean streets of HK's Tai Kok Tsui district back in the day, it was one of his concealed weapons for home defense and he wore it as a belt.

That’s like saying a gun isn’t used for self defense because it can kill the attacker, which is the point if your life is threatened. If you’re carrying a gun or other weapon it’s probably a good idea to train extensively with the self defense device you choose to carry so you can be proficient in using it should the situation arise. You’re not too bright…

If I hit an attacker in the knee with that whip it will not kill them it will certainly get them focused on the pain I caused them so I can get away and they can’t chase me. I can think of several ways (with little to no effort) how the whip can be used without killing the attacker. Please, for your benefit as well as humanities benefit in general, focus your intent on expanding your consciousness
@dennisstiel912
@dennisstiel912 3 ай бұрын
It's and remains nonsense to me that if someone invests so much time building a weapon they don't want it for self-defense... who carries that in their pocket? If a person is inexperienced with physical confrontations, he/she will not be as confident as to hit the knee... also, I will take the thing away from an inexperienced person before he uses it against him. so even more dangerous! On the street nobody has it with them who doesn't have bad intentions and at home it's pointless because it's too narrow in the house... That's my opinion and I won't comment further. I also find it inappropriate in a forum like this because everyone A 12 year old can make something like that and he'll probably want to try what the effect is like... if not in people then at least in public property... Or do you believe that he puts it in the children's room and waits for a burglar... So now I'll shut up MY mouth

Yes to the testing vids!!!! That was just beautiful (and deadly of course) and I was saddened by the failure of the wood/resin handle blank. As i saw you had more of those in the drawer, if you're near Birmingham, maybe talk to Nick Zametti about how to turn them without all the issues... He's on here too....

Great work. I thought you were going to thread the end of the cable in the handle and then use a bolt on the base of the handle to have a mechanical connection to prevent the cable from ever coming out of the handle.

I've made me a sledge hammer handle with four links of chain attached to it. Each link is about 8cm long and 1cm strong, weighing around 250g. Why did I make this? Because I had this trash lying around, and because you planted the idea into my brain. It's all your fault I have this nasty weapon at home now! 😉
