I've had this knife for years. It's one of my favorites. You are right about the guard being too small. When i do carry it, I just throw it in my pocket for concealment. The sheath mine came with didn't have the lock on it. Funny story on how I got it but I actually bought it off the guy who designed it.

No way that is super cool!! I would love to see a little bigger version but still just a tad smaller than the Phrike

You have the CPM S35vn version. Better steel than the cheaper AUS-8A shown in this video. It came with a great kydex sheath not the plastic one with lock

I have FDE version made of S35VN steel. Much better than the AUS-8, but also much more expensive. I purchased this knife in 2016 and it has never let me down since.

You took the lanyard off which acts as a pinky grip. Done on purpose for better concealment. They developed this knife for army guys in Afghanistan for iwb/ pocket carry when meeting with tribal leaders so they have some sort of tool/weapon with them at all times. Thanks for the review!

@@tacticaltavern I pretty much carry my enyo everywhere. I have the S45VN version with the RMJ leather sheath.

I like the option of having a sturdy skeletonized knife, some of the ones I've tried focused too much on being bare minimum and were uncomfortable in the hand

I agree its hard to get that feel down right Too small and its awkward in the hand

It looks like a micro-tactical version of the Becker Harpoon. But I share your exact sams criticisms.

Thanks for the review. I'm thinking about getting one of these as an EDC concealed fixed blade. I do wish they had a version that was only 1/8" thick. Seems like that would make for a more usable edc knife. It's not like a blade this small would be useful for HD use where the extra thickness would be beneficial. Then again, I'm a noob in this arena, so I may have it all wrong.

You got it all right! I personally believe if you have a compact fixed blade it would make sense to have the best cutting geometry but I heard this was designed for undercover agents who needed something robust and it was the only blade they could carry….

I also like the specs and looks of the knife, but was also reluctant to pull the trigger on it because of the "guard-issue". Too much of a risk in my opinion. I have the Attleboro Dau Tranh in cpm20cv and can highly recommend it, at least for small to medium-sized hands. Same niche: skeletonized handle, good hand guard, stabby, sharp and nicely concealable....

I carry a mini tac with an after market kydex sheath or a Top's mini scandi in 1095.. My neck knives are never premium...maybe a hoag and bark river in cpm 35, but they are just back ups.

@@tacticaltavern I do care about materials but with fixed blades i have to have a great sheath. If the sheath sucks everything sucks. With coldsteel stuff I go with RK kydex.

I always thought this was cute but I am done with thick knives. I am getting rid of my TOPS BOB because it is so thick compared to their Bushcraft Black or Garberg. I got the SOCP dagger on Saturday (comment left on that video) and it too is so thick as to make the edge ineffective. No matter what the use, a knife has to be a slicer for me. Good point of the guard, clearly a short term use knife.
@tacticaltavern

Absolutely- “short term” is a great way to describe that! I am on the side of a knife being a cutting tool not a pry bar! Cheers to thin razor sharp blades

Don't want to knock the knife.spartan blades quality is good.i own the s35vn version and use it as a edc.the chamfered edges the jumping the robust tip is all great just needs a little finger gaurd.i still recommend this knife.

Tiny, smooth handle and effectively no guard. I wouldn’t have any confidence in it.

I hear ya! Certainly more of a “backup” kinda blade - needs a deeper guard for sure
