If you have never driven the inland road from Cairns to Port Douglas via Mareeba, this video gives you a real-time look at the road trip. It takes just over 2 hours and is a truly scenic drive that can be enjoyed by all.
There are also some fabulous attractions along the way should you want to stop and take in the uniqueness of Kuranda, Mareeba and the surrounding region.
The region is the fertile food bowl of the tropics, as well as producing more than 70% of Australia’s coffee crop and a fruit wine or two.
Visit Australia’s oldest coffee plantation at Skybury, and enjoy a cup of their trademark coffee while taking in the unforgettable view from their cafe - Skybury Farmgate
Our personal favourites are:
EMERALD CREEK FALLS
A rainforest trail that leads to a series of swimming holes & cascades tumbling over granite boulders.
MAREEBA DELI
Anyone who lives in or passes through Mareeba without calling into this Deli for a meal - is missing out! You can eat in or select goodies to take a taste of Italy with you including cheeses, locally made salami, and other Deli items and sweet treats.
COFFEE WORKS
This is the original boutique Roastery and Chocolaterie of the Tropics. This feast for the senses offers an all-day, unlimited tasting experience.
GOLDEN DROP
Locals and tourists from all over the world visit this unique Winery to experience a working mango plantation and to sample the refreshing tropical Mango Wines, with Citrus Cellos, Mango Port, and Golden Mango liqueur-style wine also made on the property. The Golden Drop Winery is located just 10 minutes North of Mareeba
The video also includes a glimpse of the experience when you arrive at the resort - enjoy!
Special Thanks goes to Tourism Port Douglas Daintree for filming and sharing the road trip footage.
We look forward to welcoming you soon!
