The reach reduction is great! Makes a CZ feel almost like my SF Tanfo's! Rule of thumb is, if you don't understand the way the gun works, don't tinker with it.

This is 100% accurate. My buddy Cole and I have consistently bought and competed with the same guns. Started with Glocks, he needed a better trigger (I stayed stock). We moved to Canik Rivals and he did every upgrade available, I only changed my recoil spring. Now… we both shoot shadow2’s with 507 comps. He has done a complete Cajun spring kit (had a friend fit & install). I have done nothing. Just changed the grips. His gun has already seen more issues than mine and we’re like 3k rounds deep.

@benstoeger but you did modify the gun, recoil spring, hammer spring, reach reduction kit. The hammer and sear were only 2 ot 5 mods. Those 3 mods did make the gun better without loosing reliability. It's matter of making sure they are good mods.

The problem is when you combine mods (eg comp with a weak spring, light trigger and heavy optics or modded rail).

Im expecting 3 springs (dpm, zrt and CDS). 😂 And I have promised myself in the past to only change them after the oem wore out 🤫 And honestly it only makes it look cooler. I stopped fooling myself that I shoot better with fancy springs a long time ago.

Love this video, a lot! Only thing i have replaced on the Tanfo i use for production are the grips and i put in a conefit guide rod. Havent even changed a single spring...yet. But then again maybe im not that good of a shooter yet to appreciate the improvements of non-factory parts. For now, will just keep the gun as it is and learn to shoot better.

Doing too much to a S2 already caused deadly match results. The long term canook competitor dentist and someone in uspsa 2-3 years ago. Both guns dropped and once it hit the user itself and once the RO behind him. Lots of speculations but both S2s were heavily modified. Getting springs and hammers lighter and they can't work no more so the longer firing pin comes around. No bueno. There are people making GM with small Blocks so...

With the Shadow 2 they reduced the amount of slide stops breaking, they should last 20k rounds or more. The trigger return spring seems to be the most common part to break, with a life expectancy of below 20k rounds. Maybe even less if you dry-fire a lot. And while it sucks during a match, it's super easy to diagnose and cheap to fix. I always have a spare in my range bag. Might as well be prepared.

I see this so frequently with Glocks. I am not one of those people who insist on keeping all the parts in a Glock OEM-spec (I've interacted with many of those and they're weird) but I swear to god every third Glock I see has been fiddled with until it stops working. Then there's other insidious issues, like the number of "trigger kits" out there that completely disable the trigger safety. Good luck getting that garbage past a competent Chrono RO.

I shot a whole USPSA Match with a broken extractor on my Beretta CX4 Storm. It would extract like 75-80% of the time so it was hard to find, thought it was bad ProMags. Finally stripped the whole thing down and had to pick out some carbon build up to find the broken extractor lol. Getting a new one required customer service call to Beretta since they arent produced lol

People are always telling me "you need to cajun-ize you CZ do the trigger and guide rod ect" after owning the gun for a short time. My attitude is that I can make all the mods I want it won't fix poor technique and training. If I can run the gun stock while improving my skills the benefits of upgrading down the road will be apparent and quantifiable if I truly know how I perform with the gun stock. When I dry fire I do it back to back with both the guns I run. One DA hammer fired and one striker fired.

I really enjoy your videos, even though I haven’t shot a single competition in my life and probably won’t. I wish I had the time, but I don’t. I’m just a citizen every day carrier that like to take classes and practice to make myself a better defender. I only shoot about 2,000 rounds a year (more than most people that buy a gun for defense I think) and I want to know my gun will be reliable and will work if and when I need it and work during classes. Which is why I don’t tinker with my guns. The only thing I do is upgrade sights if they!re crappy and/or put on an optic like I did with my PDP. I did replace the polymer guide rod with a stainless steel one though. But that’s it. I just keep my guns pretty much stock and factory spec. I figure Walther knows more about designing their guns than I do.

Is it the hammer/sear or perhaps a lose trigger bar spring? I had somewhat similar problems after completely stripping the gun for cleaning and putting it back together I didn't loctite the screw that holds the trigger bar spring. That bugger started moving after a while, creating all sorts of resetting issues.

How timely. Earlier today I put a minus connector into a Glock 34 I'm fooling with. Yes, it is almost a full pound lighter in pull weight but feels like a two day mush pull. Just before I clicked on this video, I put the dot connector back. Much better......like it came from the factory. I hope I remember this next month. 😅

Yeaaaaa definitely seen this scenario play out more than a few times. Same shit happens in the automotive world lol. I been there and been a victim in the early days of my "firearms career" if you even want to call it that. You get caught up in the hype and marketing these smaller parts selling companies pump out that really only serves to create an artificial need for a product. It fuels the borderline ludicrous idea that "we can make something better" than the multi million dollar corporation that engineered and manufactured it. Usually under the guise of "we can make it better" all they do is make it less reliable and in exchange for that service take some of your money. I tell people to leave guns stock mechanically if it's something they have to depend on. A range toy is one thing, but modifying your duty gun or ccw piece is a big no no in my opinion.

What about tinkering by way of having CZC or Cajun do the work so parts are properly fit. Wondering what your thoughts are on CZC ACCU shadow 2? I bought one from your pro shop and just recently sent it back to CZC for reach reduction. I like it so much I bought a shadow 2 compact and sent it to CZC and turned it into a ACCU Shadow 2 Compact with reach reduction.

I have a couple glocks, and a few ARs that are just that, interesting gizmo, part, ect comes out, let's go put it on the beater and play with it. My go to shit is mostly stock and changes very little and very slowly when it does change because I want it to work boringly and get the work done verse look good and be dead.

You cant really fail to install the cgw stuff the wrong way. Replace the sear spring to a cz factory spring if the hammer falls to halfcock and the problems will go away. If not then the hammerhooks or the sear is probably damaged.

I absolutely agree it makes close to no difference but for some people its part of fun, from all your vids i see you are not one of those. Your friend did this, joel does whatever else you need done with your guns. And thats fine, id actually say if you have no interest in seeing how your gun works and fitting some parts then yeah, just enjoy using a working gun. I have made some mistakes like that and broken some parts while learning how to fit them better, its just cost of having fun with it. Of course your install was just fucked up and having someone experianced do it you would end up with marginally better gun that still works.

Depends on the application. Also, lots of manufacturers do the very least amount of tuning and use less than desirable parts knowing you will pay full pop and just upgrade it anyway to a more tuned product. If you can mechanically eliminate issues that inherently don't allow you shoot with that gun as well as others then do it. However, there is a diminished return to the amount of upgrades you do before those upgrades don't aid in your overall performance mechanically speaking. So, add a tuned gun with your mental and physical game can only help make you a better shooter. You think any world champion of anything doesn't use the most highly tuned cars, boats, guns, planes, top fuel etc.. Like Biden says "Come on man"

@felixdewinter3484 watch the video again. He didn't say the hammer was the cause. He said it was not properly fitted and that it eventually failed. No, He doesn't have a stock Shadow 2. He has put a reach reduction kit and spring upgrades. The Shadow 2 is designed for conetition. You understand that right? It's not a slouch of a gun. You are missing the point as well as not paying attention. Tell the truth; You have the option between a stock Glock 34 and a TTI combat master. At the end of the match the winner takes home a $25,000 purse and a new truck ( tax free) Your telling everyone you wouldn't take every advantage to win that prize money? I agree that constantly chasing tweaks to a gun has a diminished returns but to say a superior tool doesn't aid in the performance of an individual is nonsense.

@@lowbudge007 I’ll take the Glock 34 since there’s no time to train on a custom pistol that is the TTI combat master which lets be honest was always kind of gimmicky to begin with. A Glock trigger no matter how much you polish and customize it is still a Glock trigger and the stippling and shaving down of the pistol grip doesn’t actually do anything to improve your shooting.
