Self landing a 6m Flysurfer Soul @ 15 knots using a wind shaddow to safely backstall the kite on side of the window. Another video attempting self land on 20 knots: • SELF LANDING a FOIL KI...

Put the kite to the side like in the video and pull the LOWER frontline towards you while walking to the kite. In this case the foil has almost no change to roll over and spin like crazy. Keep the line low while walking towards the kite.

itʻs pretty easy when the wind is lite. Letʻs see some at 20 mph. all these lite wind self landings

After backstolling the kite, when you walk what's the purpose of keeping tension on all 4 lines ? Can I just keep tension on 1 line when i walk to the kite? (like i do with LEI kite)
@stevewebster55695 ай бұрын
The kite will spin because the bridle is connected to multiple points on the leading edge so it pulls half the kite into the wind

Do not try this at home... he had complete windshadow!

Exactly as mentioned at the description. If no wind obstacle the safest method is still the quick release with kite on side of window. 🤙🏽

The only beaches like that are Weston & Bournemouth that I've seen .

nice - How would do you do this in 25 knots?
@cefirmeza3 жыл бұрын
If there is no one around to assist me I would definitely quick release it on its side near the ground.

Check my other videos I have made in other wind conditions. Please note I am a begginer: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hYnJinSMe6eMrMU

Dude if there is more wind you need to check if there is a spot that there is less wind something that blocks the wind where you can land your kite behind but foil kites tends to be pretty big, and this only theory on the internets. If you land your kite behind something that something becomes and obstacle, and the the edge's of the part where there is no wind or lesser wind become unpridactable I would say! I am a foil beginner too, I hate foils! But maybe they are safer kites then iflatables who knows.

stop walking towards the wind, walk the outher direction bro

I no longer use any kite. Foil kites were the worse I tried. After a few years progressing on a foil I moved to wing and now I only SUP downwind. It is by far the most technical and rewarding discipline I ever tried. Cant believe how boring kites appeal now

I'm wondering why didn't you used one of these great loops on the ends of the steering lines? I'd make it this way: hold one of the loops, remove safety, let go the bar and unhook. That's it, your kite will be laying on the ground stretched downwind with no tangles at all. Used this method to land big foil kite in overpowered conditions many times. It's much better than safety release or backstall.

Thanks for the sugestion. I am still a beginner on foil kites. Do you have it on video?
@Tel--wg8te3 жыл бұрын
@@cefirmeza no, I don't. You can try it in light winds, it's pretty easy. Basically you'll be holding your kite on a single back line
@alpinedrift3 жыл бұрын
Just to be sure I understand you well. You are suggesting this: 1/ You bring the kite on side the of the window (here left) 2/ You grab the loop near the bar on the left hand side, without pulling it 3/ You let go of the safety leash 4/ You let go of the chicken loop and the bar > You are now holding the kite with one hand by the loop of the left steering line > The kite flags and moves downwind to you Are you sure nothing bad can happen with the front like pulling from you and you losing the kite ?
@Tel--wg8te3 жыл бұрын
@@alpinedrift yes, you understand it correctly and yes I'm sure. Last time used this method with high aspect ratio kite of 18qm in winds of about 20 knots. I don't have these nice loops on the bar, so had to pull many meters of backline really fast. Didn't tried this method with soul though

What if you don’t have kite killing grass patch 🤔

Then you do it on the sand.

15kts... yeah, sure
@cefirmeza3 жыл бұрын
How windy do you think it was? I got from the windy station at the club house on the beach. Of course it’s not accurate but you can get a pretty good idea. For sure it wasn’t blowing 10 nor 20knots.
@spqba7473 жыл бұрын
@@cefirmeza honestly? it's either in a wind shade or below 10kts. I do kitesurfing probably as often as you do and anything above 10kts is blowing my Souls away from the ground. Your kite is sitting still on the ground without slightest indication of a wind tbh. I would even say it's not 10kts at that spot.
@cefirmeza3 жыл бұрын
@@spqba747 now I see your point. Yes as you can see I am landing on a wind shadow. That is the reason the kite sit still on the grass. But since it was blowing 15 knots I had to hide the kite behind this shadow. Sorry for not being that specific. I will change the description to make it clear.
@cefirmeza3 жыл бұрын

@@cefirmeza ok, I get it. The technique is worth trying for sure. I believe using wind shades is dangerous as the wind vortexes are unpredictable in those spots. Will give it a try but in an open area. What I do when I have no help is back stall which in gusty winds is dangerous as you said or use the safety system. It does twist the bridle lines but they are not tangled by any means. Easy to untwist and get ready for the next session. And what is more important the kite doesn't slide on the ground where it can easily get cut. Thanks for posting the video anyway!
