I started this self love month with handing in my two week notice to my government job. The mental abuse and physical in the sense of making some of us jump through hoops for no reason but to assert their authority. I don’t have another job lined up either. I took a leap of faith. Couldn’t take it anymore. I do have a part time night job at a college that I work at so I’m not going to be penniless but I walked away from a lot of benefits and security I couldn’t take it anymore. My “loved” ones are not going to understand. Oh well. Thank you.

Thank you so much. I guess I needed some words of encouragement. There is always a bit of fear. Especially when my insurance payments came into today. I feel good though. I feel for the first time in a long time there is happiness and possibilities for my future.

Yesterday I was doing a "yoga with adriene" youtube work out, and she said "now think of 1 thing you really love about yourself, we will use that thing to draw power from". And I couldn't think of one. damn. thing. I'm a person who believes in self-empowerment, in being grateful, in looking at the bright side of things. How could I not love one thing about myself? Ahhh! Ready to change!!! Excited for this series!!!

@@tribalwoman138 Thanks, I appreciate that line of thinking. I am planning on working on this, after a half- lifetime of a self-deprecating self image, where I am always an anxiety ridden underdog, I want to feel some power! I would say I love my kind heart, but where has that gotten me? Or I love my spiritual connection, but I know I don't work on it enough, etc. There's a but to everything, lol. I'm too hard on myself, I think a lot of people are. It's a hard question. What do you love about yourself?
@tribalwoman138
@tribalwoman138 6 жыл бұрын
Yes I have sabotaged myself when it comes to how I look. I am hard on myself. I've done two videos and it took me three months to do it and then I deleted them so many times until I finally just posted it anyway. I love my outspokeness, my smile, I love my eyes, I love my openmindedness, i love my personality.

My brain also gives me "but..."s sometimes when I try to list good things about myself, and on days when I don't have the energy to argue with it, I just take it back to the most simple thing: I love my heart which still keeps beating every day, my heart which believes in me so much that it never stops, no matter how exhausted or hopeless I might feel ♡ I want to work as consistently for my own good as my heart does. (Also, you can love yourself for showing up at your yoga mat in that moment! That's already such a nice thing to be doing.)

This comment is in connection with the last idea presented in the video. In the spring of 2017, on my bday, I engaged in a self-marriage ceremony. It was beautiful, and emotional. I have found, since making the marriage commitment to myself, that, as with love/romance commitments that we make with other humans, my self marriage commitment is something that must be returned to, something that I must remind myself of. It is, in fact, easier, in my experience, to adhere to loving, respectful behavior/communication style within partner/friend commitments than it is to adhere to those concepts within my self marriage. Despite my self marriage ritual, I so often find myself using behavior, mental or physical, that I would never fathom using toward a loved one. My point is that ritual is an external representation of an internal choice, and, as stated in the video, the tenets of any ritual do need to be revisited, revised, and refreshed, at times. This is , apparently, a simple concept to grasp, but it is with my self marriage ritual that I have found it the most difficult to remember it. This is interesting, and makes sense, considering that the idea of making a love/protection commitment to self of the same magnitude that we would make with another human is, generally, societally alien. Anyway, I was thrilled to have self- marriage suggested in the video, and I would promote self marriage to anyone. I HAVE experienced benefits from my self marriage- mostly due to the fact that it reflects to me some of the times when I engage in self abuse, rather than self love. Self marriage is a marriage just like any other, in that we must return to its tenets time and time again, using the act of remembrance or ritual as a reminder of the value of the person to whom we have committed our love- ourselves.

Just wanted to say thank you for this beautiful gift, i know I’m a month late to the self love party but I’m doing a self love October anyway. I really loved the ritual prompts and iv decided to make a section in my grimoire entirely dedicated to self love work which I started today. I combined mirror work and letters to myself with a self portrait and wrote all around it with loving supportive words to myself, so when I’m having a dark day I can go and read my own words back to myself. I needed this more than I can tell you. Thank you from my heart ❤️

Kelly, this was so lovely, today was my first time, I knew you were creating the "Self-Love September" videos. This is the second one, and I am getting really excited, because last month was my birthday month, and my daugther created a "Beauty Spell" for me to recite. Now, I will be incorporating some of these ideas into Ritual for myself. Thank you so much for sharing, Love #SekhmetSapphyreSun💞

Dude! I haven't gotten through the whole video yet, but I love the Dog Days are Over and Shake it Off by Florence and the Machine! Those two songs are just so powerful for me. I went through the most awful Domestic Violence/Divorce/child custody battle in 2016-2017, and these songs were played on repeat. I feel like those songs venerate my witchiness, my sensuality, my power. I also love I'm Alive by Sia. It just reminds me how much of a badass I am for getting through what I did.

I probably won't make a shrine for myself but I misunderstood two things you said, and combined it with the poppet idea, and I'm probably going to make an empowerment and self-love talisman for myself with my own hair. (Every time I cut a lot off, I save it and put it with my witchy stuff. ;p ) I love these ideas. Thanks so much for sharing! I defo like the way you lead in this year with a bunch of possible rituals or spells to do for yourself. The first year you suggested a love letter to yourself. I still go back and read it sometimes. :) This year I think I'll write a letter to my Next Year's Self. And I can open it and read it next year during SLS. :) I started this September out by listening to this video while I was cutting my hair and having a shower. New start for a new me. I have given myself a budget. I have started to try to plan my days and get up earlier to do more yoga and other healthy things. I've changed my hair to something I like more. And I'm planning to go through my wardrobe. New me for the new #SelfLoveSeptember. Thank you for this video darling! You're always an inspiration, and I look forward to the content you put out!

I love the idea of a meal, I love to cook and do new recipes, that's a good idea. Kelly-Ann you have so many great ideas. So I was thinking while listening to this video that there is something that I'm going to change immediately and I will explain: When someone calls me on the phone, we can be talking only maybe 5 minutes and the person I'm talking to will get a call on their other phone or get a call on their call waiting and they will put me on hold if it's call waiting, if it's their other phone they will answer it while I'm still on the phone then come back and tell me they need to take that call and they will call me back. most of the time they don't call back and when they do I find out their call wasn't even important. The people that call them usually treat them like trash yet they will turn me off to talk to them. So from now on I'm not going to put up with that anymore, I'm going to either tell them how I perceive it or I'm just not going to be there for them when they want to talk..Plus this person won't even let me talk..they call and when I start talking they just talk right over my words and don't even pay attention to the fact that I'm even talking at all. I hope this made sense. First if I'm expecting an important phone call I will tell the person that I'm talking to that if i get a phone call I might have to go and i will call them back when I'm finished so they know ahead of time.. When someone calls me I like to treat that person with respect so I give them my full attention since they took the time to think of me, When I call someone I'm on the phone not even 5 minutes and they get a call and it's all over for me, I'm toast. This isn't going to happen anymore. I have enough love for myself to not let them treat me this way. When i tell them what they are doing and if they don't like what I said then they will be toast as well.. Does this happen to anyone else.?

oooh I love the idea of burning old journals, etc. I have kept mine "to look back on" but I am literally never going to do that and the idea of burning them and letting go of that previous version of me feels really freeing. oooooooh again! I have been working on integrating my body, brain & soul and that feels like a great way to ritually commit to that. I recently went vegan & started cooking for myself again (long story/difficult situation) and I found it so amazing for my self love journey for so many reasons. p.s. I am loving the SLS intro!

To your burning things: I tend to be more towards the water side of things as far as elements and something that I find helps with letting things go or processing is to write on dissolving paper or if it is a more simple message or even just a symbol, to write in sand in my aquarium and then wash it away.

Great suggestions---I will have to try some of these out for sure. I like to use dolls that I find at thrift stores to symbolize myself. I really enjoy washing them and putting their hair in a nice way before I work with them. I also burn tracing paper rather than regular paper as it burns faster, and I find that safe.

I am most definitely writing letters to my past and future selves. I've written a letter to my future self before and while it was somewhat disappointing reading it in 'the future' it was a good step in the right direction and really woke me up to my own self-sabotage. I was on the fence about the idea of poppet magick because to me, having another physical representation of me outside of my own body feels like it's potentially dangerous, but when you mentioned putting boundaries around it to represent your own boundary space I really took to it! Thank you so much for giving us this gift, Kelly-Ann! You are such a wonderful human being. :)

Yes, I write letters and love notes to myself all the time! Sometimes I just write them to my past or present self in my journal, but sometimes I will seal them and leave them in my desk to find at some point in the future. I think this is something I started doing because of therapy. In the past, it's always been so uncomfortable and awkward for me to speak to my younger self aloud during therapy sessions. I found that writing letters is much more intimate and affirming. xxo

You are such an amazing person. Thank you for all the work you put into SLS. I didn’t even realize that it was Sept. and I was embarking on my own journey when at the beginning of the month I committed to getting healthy and battling some stuff that was preventing me from being my best. But now, I’m using a lot of the things you recommend as well as a serious journal/planner dedicated specifically to my health, and it’s keeping me motivated and excited to take on this challenge. I’m really interested in mirrorwork. Do you have a video on mirrorwork that I could watch to find out more about it?

Is it a cop-out to retrofit a poppet for myself? I sewed a plushie cat with my red cat eye glasses on it before my journey started... it feels like a poppet of me but I hadn't stuffed it with attachments to me... if anything it's magical because I made it instinctively before I even discovered/ remembered my witchiness!

I remember you spoke about your poppets in a previous video and I loved the idea since but seeing them now has given me the last push to do it! Did you mention yours is pink? Because to be honest it looks just like I imagined!

WHAT IF something unforeseen happens to the poppet? That freaks me out. Love the practice though... Except for pinning stuff to the child doll... I guess it isn't quite as literal as i thought it to be? Can you explain that to me please? 😕
