I have always liked front wheel drive and when you are going up a hill the force on the handle is towards the front and less to the rear. It's a tough one, what I'm really interested in is big vs small wheels in the rear.

From what I have heard big rear wheels are supposed to be better for uneven lawns because they may be able to go over that without bouncing as much as small wheels. I personally prefer small wheels because I think they are easier to menuver around turns. Hope that helps.

@@berardia4 Yes is did help to hear your opinion. I guess the only way is to try it out somehow. I don't have a huge yard front and back; probably about 5000sq each yard. Tend to make allot of U turns. The large wheels were always easy to manage and I did not have to disengage the front wheels. I was looking at the Toro for a decent price and then I read the bit about just adding oil and never having to change it. Brigg's what the heck are you talking about.. They lost me on that one and I grew up with the Milwaukee based company. Love Craftsman but they have lost everything since Sear's took the dive. Honda is the way forward for me when I can get one with blade stop for a reasonable cost. HD has it but they are out of stock everywhere. Thanks for the reply.

I used the same generation as your toro but front wheel drive. It was a friends and it felt cheesy. Also adds weight to the front. You want it to be as light as possible for 45, 90, or 180 degree turns for sure. I went with craftsman M320 rear wheel drive with 7.25 engine
