The concept of the Self is a deep one and a discovery of the great Indian Rishis. Science will catch up with this in the future, as a lot of research is going on on the idea of consciousness and whether it exists outside the brain. Science is still dabbling with the material and is not in a position or has reached a stage of advancement where it can understand what is to be experienced individually by going into one's own self. But science has to ultimately catch up with this non material reality.

@Slicc7 Yes mooji is indeed a fantastic guru , there have been any number of gurus of such order like ramana rajneesh,jaggi vasudev, neem karoli baba etc. But then each of them need not and in most cases will not fit into our definition of a guru, because our perception of a guru is just an idea and they are there to destroy all those ideas of the self so that the true self shines out....

From Grossest to the Subtlest is said to be like this: "Subtler than the senses are the OBJECTS; subtler than the sense objects is the MIND; subtler than mind is the INTELLECT; subtler than intellect is the MAHAAN ATMA (i.e., the sum-total of the seed universe in its subtle form - also called MAHAT); subtler than Mahat is the UNMANIFESTED; subtler than the Unmanifested is PURUSHA, which is the subtlest of all, with nothing subtler than it. - Kathopanishad: 1.iii.10&11. No offense but on what grounds do you say that it is just a concept..? You are trivializing the reality into just a 'concept'.... Life is not a philosophy, Consciousness is the only reality there is. If you want to know the reality you have to become one with it. This dreamy life can be a concept but not consciousness.

without "mind" ( conditioning , psychological , emotional & cultural frames , etc) there can not be a concept . Mooji is pointing HERE . "You without you" = the Essence / pure Self . Or , call it the NATURAL mind . Terminology can be confusing , yet There IS a Space , where language can not reach , and only experiencing the I AM _ Space .. will open horizons . . Hi... Why do you compare Mooji with Jesus? All enlightened ones are unique unto themselves. But saying he or she is the reincarnation of a past master can only be the projection of our ignorance. Even if it is true, we have no way to realize it. I'm saying 'we' bcz you and me are in the same boat as far as our ignorance is concerned. Jesus is Jesus, Mooji is Mooji.

I don't get the hype. Self-realization is so simple so easy!
@gepisar9 жыл бұрын
Nightshade1968 The WAY is simple; but simple is not stupidity; it needs awareness. Nor is simplicity rash, though it begins in un-wisdom. What is newly born is innocent and it needs to become aware. Simplicity with awareness leads to clarity. The shortest way to clarity is the way you choose for yourself! Hype is a construct of mind. There is nothing to get. Awareness transcends even this.
@mikemurphy25839 жыл бұрын
gepisar Awareness is easy. At first just in brief moments. Then it is always there whenever it's "looked" at. Then always there....whenever you let the ego slip away! Unchanging...ever present!

Mike Murphy I guess everyone has their own path. Ive been watching Mooji's videos for about a week. And, something happened, for just a fraction of a second; it was like a moment of, well... hard to say. I guess its like a sleeping moment; you're only aware that you slept when you wake. Only after the event was mind aware that it had a gap. This is new.
@philtrem9 жыл бұрын
+gepisar These gaps happen often for everybody... It's gaps in which you lose yourself in the moment. Everybody has them. I'm thinking that you're just projecting something onto one of those moments, maybe because it stood out in some way. We've all known freedom, and basically, the mind is free, it's only that there is conditioning sitting on top of it. For me, I think the realization is that entering such a moment doesn't require any work or any effort, as effort is the result of conditioning. Actually, I think the realization for me was that fear is the real issue in life, and that it was not to be solved where I had attempted to solve it before. That it was not to be solved in the world, nor in my body, nor in my thinking. Essentially, that it was not to be solved through control, but that control was the issue. Especially that we are constantly in a process of becoming, or of progressing towards a result... It just became somewhat obvious that freedom required no work, only understanding (at the deepest level)...
@gepisar9 жыл бұрын
+Philippe Tremblay Im not so sure; this isnt a gap of "mindlessness". Not like a day dream where our unconscious is intruding on our thoughts or a break of concentration.[i was meditating at the time] The experience would be like, imagine a robot that is aware and you turn it off...and then on again. It would know it had been turned off because of the time that had passed with apparently no processing, but it would not know while it was off. . SO there was no intrusion, nor projection - it was an experience beyond or out of anything i experienced before. "I" wasn't there. There were no "moments", nor space, the experience is almost beyond linguistic experience, i might even say a flash of "enlightenment". Freedom is a funny one. Ive perused this in many ways. Ive been rich in my life and poor. Ive managed companies and at other times all but lived in the woods. Freedom isnt all its cracked up to be. Freedom (for me anyway) is choice. The choice to talk to people, the choice to engage in contracts or not, the choice to give it all up and live on the land. Freedom, i think, is a state of mind coupled with a skill set to cope with the consequences of the choice we make. I suppose more succinctly, "The quality of life is directly proportional to the amount of uncertainty we can comfortably live with." - i dont know said that, i forget. So i guess, be like water my friend! Youre right about fear, it cant be solved. It must be transcended. Fear comes out of a projection of uncontrolled consequences of action. Risk if you like. And risk is a function of uncertainty. People are very risk averse creatures and delude themselves into security, when there is no such thing. Those who are fearless are either emotionally damaged or deluded. Or have accepted it, and know we live in uncertainty and have come to terms with that and can make good decisions - whatever happens. This is freedom - i think. (Who was that dude in India that went into a trance and died while in trance because he didnt eat or wash or drink. Is that freedom?)
@MrPortraitsofpast7 жыл бұрын
I've been watching these videos and trying to understand, but it just seems so obvious that "the witness" is the functioning of part of the brain. This part is like a note-taker that can observe things, even the observing. But the brain dies, this witnessing part dies, and everything about you dies. And then there's nothing, no you, not the true you, not anything, except other things and other beings that aren't you that have the witnessing parts of their brains functioning still. Sorry, but that's probably the truth. If you disagree, explain why. I'd love to be wrong.
@awarenessnow59657 жыл бұрын
Hi MrPortraitofpast. Your point is understood, but assumes that consciousness is produced by the brain. This is unknown. It may just as well be that the brain senses consciousness, just like it senses sunlight. (through the eyes). There are thousands of NDE stories collected now, where ppl report vivid concioussnes, even during cardiac arrest and absence of brainfunction/EEG. Things are unfolding. www.nderf.org/Archives/exceptional.html

Interesting---i'll check that out. Thanks!
@heartdyedpurple7 жыл бұрын
MrPortraitsofpast Hi there. Whether this is true or false that "you" die, there is more to it. The part of death we actually fear is the death of our identity, our personal "selves". What you speak of is a concept that you have learned. But that concept is observed by what? The reason you say that you will end when the brain dies is because you are still seeing the self as your possession and yours alone. Without your story, memory, experiences, speculations, and identities, does YOUR self really differ from anyone else's self? This is why Mooji says "I" is known when you are born, beyond the concept of "I". We all know existence, and without the identity to differentiate us, that existence is the same. As you transition from "my self" (believing yourself to be the sole owner of a unique consciousness exclusive to you) to "the self" (being just a part of the one self) it begins to make more sense. Consider what Mooji said about all rivers becoming the ocean, or as he has said before, the wave of the ocean is a form, but it is still made of ocean.
@arjunrajendran48267 жыл бұрын
Witnessing is not the functioning part of the brain.... Brain processes all sense perceptions for our survival, but witnessing is beyond all physical as well as Psycho-Somatic functions. You are too much into your intellect, that's why you are too identified with the brain. When the Brain dies with the physical death, the Witnessing still continues... then one becomes a being/witness/observer/watcher or whatever one wish to call it. With each birth we get a fresh brain.. but the Karmic memory of the past lives are still there, Nature protects every new born from those memories otherwise our lives will be an utter hell. Please do correct your belief.
