Glad you had a backup paddle. Its good you stayed calm and had a pfd on. Great video. Us cool people always jump in the water lol

@thebeardedpaddler I'm one of the cool guys now! But technically I still haven't tipped a kayak, I fell off a tree branch. 😏

That is a great demonstration of a big paddle risk. Be prepared for the water to push you into the shore brush. Great attempt to climb over!! Great planning to have a second paddle. Love the Buffalo!!

@New2Golf Thanks for the view and comment. I don't always bring a backup but have been doing it more often. After that It's going to be part of my loadout.

Amazing job getting through that. I’m certainly no expert, but I can only imagine how tough that must be with the water being so strong.

@marccote5494 Thanks for the view and comment. Keeping the upstream side of the kayak tilted up is what gave me a chance. That let it have a bit of a surfing effect.

I hate moments like that. You did well in staying calm although there was no-one to yet out too. LoL It seemed to me that if that seat would of been able to Fold forward then you would / could have recovered much quicker. That's the one thing I DON"t like about the newer seats and I have suffered a few times myself in low lying obstacles like that and others where there was a full tree breeching across the creek only to have to portage around myself that required unloading and reloading gear to do so when many times if the seat could fold forward then the boat and gear could just pass under with me intentionally getting in the water to guide it thru. I have to unload the rear gear to fold the seat back and that doesn't work so well in the river / creek. I'm running the Jackson btw. I've been planning on connecting with you dave to see if your' interested in making runs together, after all....You and Andy got me invested in three Jacksons in the last 2 yrs. There'er still running just fine too. Cheers Bud.

@3basketliving Thanks for the view and comment. I agree that it would be nice if the seat folded forward. What Jacksons do you have, sorry I don't remember. What kind of floats are you thinking of? Day floats or camping?

Glad you're ok. Did the suit help?
@UncleDavidOutdoorsАй бұрын
@BiologistTina Dry suits are the shit! I just grabbed my extra paddle and continued down the river like nothing happened.
