Im 100% P&T now. The VBA has generally treated my very well. However, the VA hospitals have been a nightmare for me. I was homeless in 2015 because of unemployability, a doctor asked my if I had any family. I said yes, I had an aunt whom I hadnt spoke to in years. He told me that I wouldn't be homeless if I went to live with her. He injected me with 2 mgs of Ativan and let me drive out of there. I had to move to Ecuador where I could afford to live (at the time I was rated at 70%). 22 of us take our lives daily. I was almost one of them. They VA hospitals need overhauled or just send us to the private sector.

That’s the Community Care-the local facilities have to accept the VA. I live in a red county seat-8mile round trip-I have to go 60 miles-you have 30 days to submit your travel. Augusta VA has offices for Homeless. I’m right there with you Brotha-on keep looking down off the cliff. Bro,there’s at least one that retired 1SG,VA disability and gov’t contract with KBR lives in Panama-if you get into some of the groups for us you’ll see we’re spread throughout the world.

As a veteran who works for the VA, I can say firsthand that one issue the VA has always had is the handling of their annual budget. First of all, each hospital is given their own budget. The way the VA works is top down. To clarify what this means is that if the individual hospital has money leftover from their annual budget, that money is then split amongst the VA employees. Much the same way as any private corporation does. Just like every corporation, those at the top get bigger bonuses while the rest are given something supposedly based on their annual review. I can tell you, so many people in top positions shouldn't get squat. There are too many office jobs that are redundant in the services they provide. Or worse, you're left scratching your head wondering why the individuals are in these positions that prvide no actual benefit to the VA, let alone the veterans. Just like all government agencies, the VA has areas of wasteful spending. The veterans of the United States deserve better. The medical staff working in diect patient care deserve better. I remember that while Covid was rampant, management was nowhere to be seen. They were all hiding in their offices while the medical staff dealt with Covid head-on. Top leadership throughout the VA hs been of great disappointment for the many years of working for the VA. One more thing. The Supply and Logistics departments in the VA are atrocious. They don't always communicate with each other, and supply and equipment responsibilities are constantly dodged by both. You don't know which to call when you need certain things. They basically do the same work, but you have two different departments. Wasteful? Confusing?

I ETSed in 2010 and my husband is active duty. I am happy to report they do a much better job with letting veterans know about benefits they are entitled to. Before I got out at Fort Hood, I attended a briefing and they let us know we could come to their VA office on post to have them review our medical records and they would file the claims for us. I was able to complete my C&P exams while still active duty. I got my 30% rating a month after I was out. Of course I’ve learned much more since but in comparison to my great uncle who is a Vietnam War Veteran, I feel they have done much better by me and other veterans that retire and ETS now.

I have everything needed to be approved for many of my claims to include the C and P examiner connecting it to service, and I have still been denied. The VBA is full of shyt and doesn't give a dam about us vets. If the Govt would give those that served 100% pay, I'm sure it would equal out or be less than the budget given each year. Instead of giving us what we deserve, they find ways to deny us so they can eat off that plate themselves. I doubt it will happen in my lifetime, but I pray somebody cuts out all the red tape and allow vets to be compensated fully when they complete their service. Crooks will never give money to those who deserve it because they want it for themselves!

Use the VA-1 they’re the final authority to grant our percentage-get all of your X-Rays-chiro showed me mine-I’m F’ed up-“do you want the good news or bad?” I said bad maybe the good will help-“music to the VA-“you’re not going to get better-I already have a hip replacement-I had bone spurs while across the water and think a draft dodger is going to be better for us? He amended the Choice Program to all vets to be able to get Community care which was running low on financing. But,you still have to get the VA to find a facility that will accept the VA.

The VA almost killed me, so I was forced to use civilian medical care which comes out of my pocket. The vast majority of debt that I have is medical debt. There are prescriptions I need and can't afford because TriCare doesn't cover them or doesn't service my pharmacy. My wife is my Caregiver through the VA and her medical coverage is better than mine. The VA treats me and most combat veterans like we're a problem they have to deal with while they treat non-combat veterans and those with les than honorable service records better than all of us "baby killers". I served honorably until I couldn't physically do the job any more and then I was thrown out like the trash the Veterans Administration views us.

The services being rendered through Community Care costs the VA more money than when the veteran receives his or her care at a VA facility. Trust when I say, "The grass isn't always greener on the Community Care side." It is ridiculous. I cannot afford a weekly let alone a monthly visit with a mental health professional due to how in this country we commercialize the welfare and Healthcare of all citizens. This must stop and must be fixed.

I broke my ankle from a fall due to my tbi last April. It literally took over 16 weeks and Blake Moore’s office to get me treatment and to see an orthopedist. That doc said that it was too late to do corrective surgery as it should have been done around the eight week mark. I have switched to my wife’s insurance, because the VA layer of bureaucratic workers will kill you. The only group of those folks that will help you are your fellow veterans employed by the VA.

My dad was career Army under Patton in the Battle of the Bulge, awarded the Bronze Star, and my mother worked at the Greater Los Angeles V.A., as I did after a long career as a social worker and business writer. That V.A. was full of the least dependable, most anti-Caucasion, lax, passionless, incompetent, poorly educated M.A.s and Ph D.s in one place I ever witnessed.

The docs don’t really care. I was in so much pain, I had no life just minute to minute but the VA refused to help. Something about no creating people dependent on pain meds. Thank the gods my wife employer had great ins. I went and the doctors immediately put me on a monitored pain program giving me my life back. They told me not to go back to the VA.

I was discharged from active duty in 1994. I suffered from multiple service connected issues. Back then they didn't offer healthcare unless it related to a service connected issue. It took me until 2018 to get rated for other service connected issues while trying to keep civilian healthcare with my preexisting conditions. After the ACA passed which included healthcare for us veterans things improved vastly. I feel that my VA healthcare is as good or better than civilian care at this point. I understand that not every VA area provides the same care as the SF VA. Changing the funding structure is a better approach than trying to defund and privatize the VA. Recent events surrounding the UHC shooting have brought shed more light on the fact that civilian for profit healthcare is a worse approach than the current VA model.

The VA does have a huge impact on veterans and their healthcare and by extension, the veterans' families. The wait times, poor or lacking treatment, misdiagnosis, and the cynicism and apathy of the VA employees has veterans unaliving themselves at an alarming rate. There is nothing more impactful to the lives of veterans and their families than a veteran unaliving themselves. The VA believes that the more veterans who unalive themselves and all the other veterans who they let expire through the VA poor care leads to fewer veterans the VA has to treat and fewer veterans the VBA has to support.

I sit here in BAMMC as a veteran who has had extensive medical requirements and am 100% disabled. While it Is painful to listen to, it is sad knowing that the people providing VA benefits and care would rather honor and serve “newcomers” than the folks that actually served and sacrificed for America. I never thought I would be in the position I am today, health or other wise. But I am sick and am likely not long for this world. I love the country and its citizens and would serve again. But I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone else.

Just my thoughts. I have always been treated very well by the VA. The staff has always been supportive and friendly and in my opinion they truly care about us. My only question is why can’t I get the money I paid into the SBP Insurance if it is not used because my wife left me? Where does the money go if it is not used? My civilian life Insurance policy will return my money that I paid into if it is not used. Joe in Pennsylvania

The VBA keeps deleting my lower precentage rating without notification or cause. Example: I was rated 10% for Sinusitis for burn pit exposure more thanb10 years. After the PACT act deadline I opened my ratings on VA website and now it's gone. I have the mailed/ paper document (proof) but WTF!?

If you don't seek regular treatment for it they'll assume it's no longer an issue, all ratings less than 100 P&T can be lowered or taken away.

What a powerful expression of concern in the video. In a similar vein, optimizing advocacy through efficient email systems like DoYouMail paired with cold email tools could be impactful. DoYouMail is automatic SPF DKIM DMARC configuration simplifies the technical side, ensuring high delivery rates without much manual setup. It has transformed my emailing approach over these months. Reliable and cost-effective, especially when combined with other cold email SaaS. Consider it for steady email management.

My local VA won't even answer their phones. They say they're too busy and don't have enough people for that. And even the "call center" that I was told to call literally laughed at me when I told her the their phone system was messed up too. She laughed out loud and said something like, yeah, isn't that terrible. Maybe if you complain somebody will fix it. They make it so difficult access anything that guys give up in angry frustration. Some 22 a day give up totally. It's the culture that has been allowed to flourish and get so dug in I sincerely doubt it'll ever get turned around.

It's sad when you wait 6 months, many times even more for many vets. Then, you receive two letters on the same day. One is a decision letter putting you up to 100% P&T. The second letter, received on the same day in the mail, is a Proposal to Reduce, putting you back at 90%. Thats the VA for you.

The VA healthcare system takes ok care of me now. Not great and not terrible. The biggest problem for me is that our VAs are so incredibly understaffed, getting an appointment to see a Dr or specialist is usually has at least 6+ months wait, our Disability compensation Pay even at 100% is not enough to live off of now with the massive inflation of basic living expenses and groceries.
