I fell backwards and support my body from left hand by palm opened. So my left thumb got sprained maybe by getting stretched opened outwards during that fall. It's been 8 weeks it's paining and now causing thumb trigger at front joint but pain is also at bottom base joint of the thumb if i press with finger . I can't open tight bottles or jars with left hand and thumb starts to pain and also drop things due to less support from that thumb. Will this help it get well the taping technique.

Very helpful! Thanks so much! Another trick for remembering this taping method. Start at the center, right under your palm. Make two loops outwards, once around the thumb, then around the wrist.

What tape is this and where can I buy it? (Also in Australia)
@BodyFitPhysiotherapy4 жыл бұрын
Hi the tape I use is from IDM called Maxiplast. You can also use all of the larger tape providers as they will have they own version. The main type I used in this video is the 25mm Elastic Adhesive Bandage. I then provide additional support using 12.5 mm rigid tape - I personally rip 38mm rigid into strips as I don't always have access to the smaller version in the clinic Hope this helps

To help keep circulation and not have the tape too tight, you should cut the tape each time you have finished a rotation... I believe you are taping too much at once and thus cutting off circulation...

@BodyFitPhysiotherapy3 жыл бұрын
Hi Talemwa if the tape helps the pain or not is a trial thing. Realistically you want to know what the underlying injury is so that you can determine if you are doing further damage or not. Therefore you do really need to see your local health professional to get a diagnosis and plan. This taping technique may be part of that treatment plan but will not be the sole treatment for it

Hi @linda kutch if it is a true trigger thumb it would be best to use a splint as you normally have to splint these for extended periods and having tape on your skin would not be good.
