I’m inspired to take my drawing workbook and put it into a schedule for me to work on daily and weekly.

I find that dedicating a short period of time each day will enable you to put into practice what you have said , but also not making it such an overwhelming task, and it does make you want to do it every day. Sometimes it is easy to get disillusioned so targeted task is great and you do build on the skills organically.

And if you have a specific aim, it’s easier to assess how you’ve gone in the drawings. Thanks for sharing 😀

Of course you gave a valued talk in this brief video. However, those backgrounds in each segment were beautiful and so inspirational. I could see myself sitting there in any one of these inspiring backdrops with paper and pencil sketching away.

This makes so much sense. I feel I have had an epiphany and understand why I have been floundering around for so many years. Thank you so much❤

I do feel like there is so much out there to draw and so many styles and possibilities and media to learn that its hard to keep a sharp focus on what I wish to do. Good tips, I had to be my own teacher even in art school, appreciate your videos as always!

I hate when I feel I was dumb yesterday, and everyday I feel the same way. Do you know what I realized? remember when I was struggling in figuring out how to visualize the drawing on the paper before I draw it? Well, I just learned that writing is drawing and started to visualize the sentence before I wrote it. It is giving me a feel good feeling I am very afraid of. A feeling like attachment, not to the drawing but to the process and I am afraid I will get lost in it and miss out on "life'. I don't know which part of life I am having FOMO for, I can't figure it out. I bet one day, I will feel I was dumb yesterday again. SMH. Thank you for your words of wisdom. They are always welcome and very educational.

My recent Long COVID relapse means I can’t predict always how my mental and physical processes will work. Sometimes I can’t use a keyboard because my thinking just can’t cope with what it has to do to use it. Struggling with process is not being dumb, it’s just the way our brain is working (or not working very well) in the moment. When I can’t do certain things I find something else to do I can still manage. Walking does help calm my brain down, so I am getting more fit at least. Visualising the sentence before you write it sounds a clever and creative way to write. And in most drawings some part of me always gets lost in the process - sometimes I overwork a drawing because I don’t want to stop the enjoyment of the process. All the best in your getting to a place where you can be more relaxed with all this. I hope drawing can be a helpful part of it.

This is such a valuable video! Time to not draw and sit down and work on the why and how's and have a plan !!!! Such a revelation that I have to try and be as good a teacher as you are to us, to myself! A hard act to follow but with these tips, at least I know where to start ! Thank you 😊

Your drawings tends to be a little bit repetitive if you have a dedicated place for learning sessions if all you do is drawing from life. :-D :)
