What is running your amazing looking dashboard dockers screen? It looks amazing, do you have a video going over what you use?
you should make a video about keeping our photo libraries in check with unraid. Be it scanning out photo collections for duplicate files or just downloading everything from the cloud and then backing up your organized photos to the cloud (again. I just setup icloudpd from the unRAID apps tab and it is pretty rad, if only to be certain that I have another backup of my icloud photos

@@blindside995 Seems like I will have to write up some up-to-date guide, cause its not very clear how this work... I got grub2 to load over network (uefi booting) and to load multiple linux distros just fine, but not windows... so I scraped that. Now I'm on iPXE custom rom, and after half day trying to figure it out I finally made progress… How is it this difficult ? I'm Linux Admin by trade but ffs if you never worked on PXE booting before, there is so much confusing documentation that is not complete and expect you to just know some stuff... its not even funny :-/ (Not to mention Unifi inability to setup DHCP properly, you can choose one tftp server, one rom/efi file and that's it..., so I had to work around that as well... )

New to your channel, but this type of content is incredible. I'm trying to get into virtualization and starting to use it on my network -- only in a homelab situation. Yet, you make me feel comfortable with it, and it's less intimidating with how you cover it. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

I would love to see an in-depth video on portainer. As this would bring docker-compose and stacks to unraid. However, I'd like it to dive into the more advance things that unraid makes easy and the trade-offs. Example, how does this effect the view in unraid on the docker tab? What about networking? A nice video with the pros/cons and GOTCHAS would be amazing as it really is good practice to use a seperate db container for each application. Which would be terrible to do/organize in the unraid gui.

Excellent suggestions thanks for posting

@@IBRACORP Yeah, the other real issue with the Unraid docker is that enables people to learn hahaha. So let me explain a bit, the docker implementation and the app store is super easy, it is PERFECT for people that have zero docker experience. But it enables you to grow, and what happens is you semi-quickly outgrow it and need much much more. The problem with this is that once you realize you need more, you are then used to Unraid, so transitioning to something like portainer that lets you do whatever you want is a drastic change, enough to almost turn you away. There isn't really a soft transition. Its like playing in the park with your best friends one day at 10 years old and waking up the next day as a 30 year old in a construction job trying to figure out what is going on. haha. Not a bad thing at all, but not a huge win for unraid either. Also, I don't mean any of this as a knock on unraid. It just seems that their target market never changes, but the users do. I love unraid, I truly do, without it I wouldn't be anywhere close to where I am today. The problem is, it doesn't have any mechanisms to also grow with the users.
@IBRACORP3 жыл бұрын
That's exactly right mate and I totally agree with you there. I, myself, had first experience with Docker properly in Unraid so became quite used to it. It wasn't until I had to build some Ubuntu servers that I learned about docker itself and what it can do. It's in our list 🙂

@@IBRACORP For anyone else that was having this problem, it seems patience was the fix. Did a bit of fault finding, network changes, etc, with no joy. Seems netdata is the way to go! Even my new install of TrueNAS Scale has netdata built in!😲 So I'm going to install it on unRAID but I'm wondering if I should use my custom docker network (like almost all other dockers) or do I leave it at host? Which is what it says when I clicked install. EDIT: I guess it has to be host like the default settings from the install screen. It did not show IP info as custom docker network. I guess that is fine since I have Glances installed and set as host. Which can now be removed! 😀
