I just signed up and bought the first book to review. I am wondering what the difference is between this platform and Pubby. I guess I will find out. One difference is that with Pubby, some authors will allow for a PDF of their book to be used, and a reviewer will leave a review that is not 'verified.'

Yep, you just picked out the difference. Pubby doesn't require you buying the book for the verified purchase tag.

The purchase of an eBook not only increases the credibility of the review but Amazon controls who and how much your book was read and rejects the review if they find something is not right, the reader skimmed through pages, etc. It is the closest guarantee that the review was real. That is the reason that we only allow reviewers who purchased the eBook to participate in our program.

I have used this service since I mentioned it, and have struggled to get reviews, even after uploading 8 of my books. I will not be continuing this service. There are other platforms which have more active users.

Correct. They rely entirely on verified purchase reviews and Kindle Unlimited won't provide that. However, your book can be in the KDP Select Program and you can still get a review, but the reader will still have to purchase it. If you run a free promo or Kindle Countdown deal, that might entice more reviewers.

It's a shame that it's not available in other languages yet. Amazon isn't used that often in the Netherlands, so my readers can't leave a review due to the €50 spent limit.

Well, Flavia is watching the comments, so I wouldn't rule out something later down the line. With Authentic Book Reviews being so new, it makes sense to start here and expand as the business grows. If they were to offer in a bunch of languages, it'd water down the options for account holders. And, yeah, that $50 minimum is a dealbreaker for some Amazon account holders.

Hi, we saw a high rotation of books priced at US$ 3.99 and below. However, many authors are dropping their prices just to be selected and bringing them back after that. This increases the chances of being chosen. In the end of the day, your book price strategy is yours and yours alone. Just keep in mind that the reviewer is buying your book, so take this into consideration.

No, they don't handle low content books. The books must be in ebook form and KDP does not like low content books available as ebooks.

You can use KDP Select, but the reviewer would still have to buy your book. Meaning, they can't use KDP Select to leave a Verified Purchase review, but they can do it if they purchase your book. As I mentioned, it's goofy that they don't consider a KU checkout as verified since the reader is paying for a monthly subscription.

Hi, that is correct. It needs to be an eBook, which is great because it guarantees that the person reading your book is actually reading it. Amazon tracks reader behavior and rejects reviews if you do not read the whole book or just skim the pages. Besides, it provides a verified purchase, which adds credibility.

Hi, I'm sorry to say that alphabet, tracing, and coloring books are not appropriate for the program. It needs to be an ebook, which defeats the purpose of the book.

Agreed. KDP will NOT like a tracing book converted into an ebook and have been known to strike down accounts for publishing low content books as ebooks. I'm glad you asked so you don't get into hot water.

I've commented and asked you a few questions about some of your suggested tools but I never got your response, and in fact, I think you even delete some of those messages! Not good. About this website, I had written a comment earlier but now I cannot find my question here anymore. I had signed up after watching your video on Oct. 18th, and now after more than 5 days, it still says 'looking for 1 reader' to review my book. Nope. I didn't delete any of your comments nor do I delete anyone's comments. This is the first I'm hearing from you. I do, however, block people from my channel that leave trolling or rude comments. So far, you aren't one of them since I can see this comment and you can see mine. So, if you're comments aren't showing up for me, I can't respond to them. That simple. Remember, KZbin has its glitches and quirks that I can't account for. If you commented on someone else's comment, I might not have seen it either since I only get notifications on new comments. Keep in mind, I have a LARGE volume of comments, so I just try to answer new comments as they come. As for your book not getting picked up for a review, there are NO guarantees you'll get a review. You've gotta have a good cover, book description, and price point, as Flavia mentioned in the interview. And, if you're genre isn't as popular, you might have fewer readers interested in your book. It's a free service, so the only thing you're out right now is time. I think my book sat in the queue for almost a week before someone picked it up. For good reason too! I price my ebooks at $7.99, so not all readers can or will afford that. And, the topic of self-publishing has a niche audience. I'm okay with that though. Hang in there and don't lose heart. And trust that I don't just delete less rosy comments. Scroll through any of my 1,600+ videos and you'll see some less than nice comments or contrarian viewpoints. I'm okay with folks doing that. I'm not okay with it when they can't do that with some degree of professionalism and poise (i.e., cursing, incoherence, bullying, etc.). Rather than delete the comment, I hide them from my channel. That's how I do business, and don't expect for you to agree with my approach. Next time, just make your comment instead of a passive-aggressive dig at how I manage comments on my videos. You'll get a nicer response.
