Nice find for $350. These were awesome back in the day. Very smooth and comfortable and really stable for trail riding. Good in mud and snow also. They’re still pretty easy to find parts for too, they made quite a few of them.

@@Charlie1993ohio compared to the 250r and 200x the Yamaha had a wider stance. It was much more stable for riders that didn’t have the experience. But yeah you just need to learn how to handle the 3 wheelers lol. Stability was a huge issue if you didn’t learn to lean 🤣

I had this machine as a kid. It’s suspension was soft and the shaft drive would thrust it up when you hit the throttle. Was a blast. Very smooth vs the Big Red Honda I also had. I never used the pull start as the electric start was perfect! Was a good machine.

If the piston isn't scored up too badly and the cylinder isn't in need of an over size bore and hone, there's really no need to replace the piston. You can save money and have great results with just replacing the rings. Always enjoy your videos Joe.

I painted it the other day and still working on some of the paint. Missed a few spots but I’m going to put Bedliner type paint on the rack and pegs to keep the from getting scratched. Definitely a fun machine. Hope you have fun with yours

Maybe give it a bath before tearing into something, it will keep dirt out of the engine and show a little pride in repair not to mention it will increase value and won't look like a backyard flip. Just something to take into consideration. :) Edit: to get the clutch freed up, get going at a good clip and pull clutch lever and stand on the rear brake, it should break free after a couple tries.

Keep a couple half gallons of STA-Flo liquid ironing starch on hand. $4 each at walmart. In tires like that where that junker isn't worth a new set of tires, use around 8 oz and it will seal them up. Sometimes if the side walls are leaking just pull the wheel and rotate the tire around on it's side and it will seal. Works as good or better than slime and not nearly the price. Allot of old timers know this trick. I put it in everything and it actively seals punctures whenever they happen. I never get flats. I put it in all my trailers, quad, bike, bicycle tires. Just don't use it in TPMS wheels.
