That was very informative for us as we have quite a lot of items, inherited from respective parents, that we need to sell in one way or another. We have always been a bit intimidated by the ebay selling process, but that has shown us quite a lot on how to go about it - thank you. Will have to explore this option more thoroughly now. Looking forward to the next video on how well you did. Lorna UK

I spent all day learning how to post things on ebay and then when I finally decide to take a break and watch some You Tube what do I find?? lol! You have some lovely things and if I weren't committed to being a seller I would certainly look at your postings. I never thought of selling perfumes that had been partially used and am ashamed to say I have more than my fair share that I spent a lot of money on that go unused because I just got tired of them. One of the things that I want to eventually sell are some vintage Mikimoto pearls and I was told by a man who is an Ebay pro to start by listing small, insignificant items that will sell and get a good seller rating so that when I do list more valuable items there will be some verifiable trust built up which will hopefully drive up the price. Good luck to you!

+Karen Johnston hey you can buy my stuff and resale it. seriously look at the price for the fragonard fragrances, I have a set of 5, some people pay over 100 per bottle right now, even the used ones, that's insane.

Sophia! You are an excellent teacher!! You could teach how to eBay in an Community Education Class & get paid for this , if they have it in your area. There are so many people who would like to eBay but are intimidated by it. Maybe you could charge to do the eBaying for them & make a commission on sales . Actually you are such a good teacher you could teach building a bookcase or aviary or any of the vast number of talents that you have. I know you are looking for a higher paying more stable maybe more corporate type of job but maybe this could help in the meantime. You are simply amazing ! You GO Girl!

+Kathleen Sauer i know, but the process is just so long, this is one of those things you do while you already have a job. I am supposed to get a call this week for another interview, the issue here is that I really don t want the job, it s flat out dangerous not to mention too far, but I figure I can stick with it while looking for something else and say adios muchachos once I secure something else. Once I get my License, the market will be much more open for me, not to mention that I can do private practice, evening additional hours and teach. thank goodness Scott does freelance on the side, still we re tight.

+My Great Challenge I'm going to chip in on Kathleen's comments and say that as well as teaching, you would also be excellent in sales - you just have a very personable and inspiring, yet realistic way of describing everything. I could deffo see you working in high end beauty/china/glass/antique/book/clothes sales. Also, picking quality items from junk/charity shops and re-selling on ebay can be profitable if you're careful. Just some ideas - you deserve to work in a safe, classy environment. Also, how about teaching French privately? I'm sure that there must be a demand in the NYC area. Best Wishes.

Hi Sophia-I posted 40 items last week and was able to sell all 40. It is a lot of work but if you can sell it and make some decent money. It's worth it. The fees can sometimes get you but I like selling once in a while. Been selling since 1999 and haven't had too many problems considering. Good luck with your listings.

+lma1228 As someone who is just starting to sell on Ebay I just have to ask. What kinds of items did you list and sell?
@lma12289 жыл бұрын
+Karen Johnston -hi Karen I have sold many things in the past years but this last time I sold out my inventory of thirty one bags. I was a former consultant. In the past I have sold scrapbooking items, a few teacups & saucers and books & Dvd's. Hope it helps.

+Karen Johnston if it helps, I've been selling on ebay since 2000 and I sell good condition clothes, unwanted gifts, books, unused cosmetics, china etc etc. anything sells really as long as you are realistic on the price. Good luck!
@lma12289 жыл бұрын
+Karen Johnston -Just be honest & forthright in your listings and I think you will do well. I think for the most part people who buy & sell on ebay are good people like most of us just hoping to sell a few things and make a little bit of money. I have done both and like I said I have had maybe 5 instances where either someone didn't pay me or I didn't get something sent to me that I paid for so all in all I think it has been a good experience. Even if you do have some negative experiences don't let it get you down. If you enjoy selling on ebay do it. Do what you love.

The good thing about ebay is the ability to bid, which can shoot up prices. The down side is the 10% they take! My Sweetie has been selling off items from his watch and fly fishing collections and the final bids have more than made up for the 10% (I sell my handmade and vintage items on Etsy ~ NewFire for much less out-of-pocket!). I recommend choosing the right boxes/envelopes for each item (that teacup WON"T make it in the PO small flat rate priority mail boxes!), then determine the postage (with "handling") on your own ( postcalc.usps.gov/ ).
@mygreatchallenge9 жыл бұрын
+Peachykeen Woman I was more interested in a specific price for shipping because I can get the boxes in all sizes at some wholesale warehouse in my area. but I get your point.
@ArtJourneyUK9 жыл бұрын
If you accept paypal, by default you accept returns because the buyer is covered by PayPal protection even if you say "no returns"... They'll just do a PayPal chargeback. So you are better off accepting returns because at least then you can specify buyer to pay return postage etc.
@ArtJourneyUK9 жыл бұрын
Also... If you are doing Buy It Now, not all your items may finish at the same time. So you may have to go to the post office more than once before the 7 days is up! And a tip... If you know the price you want for something, do a fixed price listing instead of a 7 day auction, because they can run for 30 days on one listing fee. Doing an auction listing and then adding Buy It Now option bumps the listing fee up. Good Luck!
@mygreatchallenge9 жыл бұрын
+ArtJourneyUK that's all true. I also thought about doing reserves but that was for some items I don t really want to sell...funny how the one I wanted to keep already has bids. Did not know about the Buy it Now fee being bumped up. That's good to know.
@kathymeurell13149 жыл бұрын
I have never sold on Ebay, (only purchased). How long did it take you to describe and post each item?
@mygreatchallenge9 жыл бұрын
+Kathy Meurell depends on the item and how thorough you want to be. if you have duplicate you can copy and paste, there is a feature for duplicate listings but you do have to make a slight change in the title like 1 of 3 or 2 of 3. i would say 15 minute top. i took each item as an individual one, doing pictures of that one item only then posting. you could do pictures of everything then sit down and post everything.

Have you sold and shipped the glassware? I have a whole house to liquidate, but worried about shipping and breakage. I do not want the shipping to be more that the value of the items.
@mygreatchallenge9 жыл бұрын
the price of the item has nothing to do with shipping. what if you are shipping a gold coin? it s small and fits an envelope but the insurance could be covering a loss of 400 dollars. I sold one set of glassware and the shipping was appropriate to the weight and size of the box.

Why don't you try to sell without Ebay getting part of your cash? List it here and let people decide.
@mygreatchallenge9 жыл бұрын
+cherylynn927 because that would be unethical for me to do that, it's kind of like buying coffee for your boss, it s a big no no or the money collection at work when it comes from your manager, people would feel obligated, I don t want my viewers to ever feel obligated, so it's up for grab for the entire world. There are some youtubers who do that and tell everyone it's for charity, but they never show proof of the actual charity donation in the end, i think it's disgusting. You guys all know my situation, yet I want to make sure that you all know this is something I have to do but no one should feel obligated to get something they did not really want in the first place just because it's me and I need the income, I don t know if I make sense.
