Screwdriver on hose clamps are so 20th Century. Nut drivers don’t slip and allow to give them hell.

Mom use to take me to school in a 56 Chevy and i would hide because i was embarrassed of the car...mom and me would laugh our ass off because i would lay on the floor.....that was 50 years ago...its wild how things change i would be proud now
@susanboylefanableАй бұрын
Similar experience here, & from about the same time frame. Our family car got creamed, & my maternal gparents sold us a black/white 2-tone '56 that they'd parked after buying a brand-new Caprice a year or 2:before. I don't recall any of us HIDING, but we were the butt of a lot of jokes from people who probably wish they had a crack at buying that thing NOW. 🤣🤣🤣

Great color choice on the Gnarly tee...Now it gives your customers two color options...Also, that's very generous giving a vintage Hot Rod Mag while they last...A Huge Tiki High-Five!!!

Talk to Nick at Nick’s Garage about your rear main seal. He is a legendary Mopar engine builder and has a channel here on KZbin. In fact he did a video recently about this very same problem. Good luck.
@NZMOPARАй бұрын
i was going to say the same thing
@NZMOPARАй бұрын
I think Nick used an old school rope seal in the end on that one that wouldn't stop leaking

Sounds pretty sweet Digging the engine stand I don’t know about the cooling fan and the water pump but everything else is pretty sweet lol. That Pontiac 400 looks very familiar I built three of those in my day for my 68 GTO.

A quarter inch drive socket and rachet saves a lot of lost finger skin when working hose clamps !
@victorrobinson7008Ай бұрын
When ready too install the motor for the final time put some rtv gasket sealer on the radiator hoses for a tight leak proof seal .
@scottmaytham3578Ай бұрын
You might have a burr or a rough spot where the crank seals.Hopefully not a bent crank or a bearing problem.We used to plasta gauge all the main bearings .

Nice job on the mopar engine.....I like your cooling efforts👍🤙

So glad you guys were able to solve that rear seal leak on the BB Mopar. That shit can be frustrating AF! At least you didn't have to pull it in and out of the car to do that. I hope you guys get top money for Greased Lightening!

I don't understand you guys, a bunch of people have been asking how much for grease lightning, what gives, is it top secret?
@pearlguy6351Ай бұрын
I think problem with other seals was a clearancing problem two piece seals have a crush depth but also some seals are meant for stock applications and some for high performance applications
@TheHordАй бұрын
Sorry to hear about the rear main leak issues, but glad you guys got it sorted out. I like your engine stand, rad/fan setup, if it works who cares 😂. For the 400ci Pontiac engine, I have no idea, lol... I'll guess that it matches the ci # 400hp. Grease Lightning is an awesome rig, I bet it sells fast. Hank is my favorite of your '56 Chevy collection but I love them all! Have a great night/week. 🍻
@bobkoskovics2530Ай бұрын
Don’t forget you need a crank case ventilation system so the seals can breathe in keep the oil in the engine soon as those pistons start moving at high RPM You will build pressure in a crank case it’s not a stock car so now hi Performance
@turbodpv5908Ай бұрын
#62 Heads had 2.11 intakes, 1.77 exhausts with 72 cc chambers and are decent, should be around 10:1 with +.030" over flat top pistons and should easily get you 350+ HP with a good 4 barrel 750 cfm carb and Ram Air exhaust manifolds or Headers.

Nick at nicks garage in Canada is the mopar king and someone brought him a engine someone else built and I think someone one tried to fix the rear main seal like 7 times with no secess and I think it even took nick 2 or 3 times but he got it nick hates silicone he said gaskets are suppose to work without it he does everything the way it was done at the factory does to all the right bolts and clamps I think there was a problem with the crank that caused the problem if I'm not mistaken

Also unless you are installing the engine into a vehicle you need to shorten the boom to put the weight of the engine on all the wheels of the hoist . When she was trying to move the engine , the weight was only on the front wheels and the back of the hoist tried to come up .
@horsepower711Ай бұрын
All you had to do to be able to run the belt for the power steering and water pump was to make a hose that would thread into the pressure side of the pump and put a nipple in the return port of the pump and hose clamp the hose to the nipple. Since you aren't going to have a steering box that would build pressure when you turned you just needed a closed loop system to get by.

🇬🇧 Would love that 56 but a lot of us over here couldn’t afford one let alone the cost of running it. 24 mpg seems very good for a V8. I pay £320 per year Road Tax just to have my 2.5 Transporter on the road.

Are either of you from the Islands? I was watching this video and see you have Hawaiian motif in your shop. I lived on Oahu in Palolo Valley is why I ask. I’m a fan of you guys. I have a 69 Nova as well so I’m into classic cars. You guys kick ass. You’re great together! Keep up the good work. Aloha!!! 🤙🏽 btw, my guess is that Pontiac engine will put out 405 hp @ 6000 rpm

The seal I ended up using was a 2947 felpro. I clocked it in 8 and 2 position. I did NOT use RTV anywhere on the backside or on the ends. The only RTV I used was on the bottom of the cap. Good luck.
