This is probably advice I need to take. I've had some inventory sitting there for a few months - nothing amazing, but I wanted to try. One problem I have is figuring out the price when there are no comps 😅 Thank you for the video, sir!

Great video, I struggle with this decision a lot and it helped to hear yours and others' thoughts here and when they send their stuff to auction.

Great content. This was a video that I was waiting to see. Recently pulled the Topps Chrome Update Image Variation Colas Superfractor and don’t know if I should use auction or BIN. Worried if I list BIN I would list for too little. Auctions can be dangerous also though.

I'm moving some stale inventory right now with auctions. Hopefully it's not all going to be bad news though. I feel curse, because I haven't been able to move anything recently. I bought a Tank Dell Auto that I just got yesterday in the mail with my last proceeds. I guess it's back to the old drawing board, and hopefully the next guy I pick works out better for timing!

Very good video. I was just having this discussion with another dealer and it's definitely a situation that varies from dealer to dealer. The guy I was speaking to does not run auctions at all since he is not willing to take any losses in this bear market. In his case he is dealing with higher end inventory that he can afford to sit on. I cannot afford to go that route as I need to continually churn through inventory to continue to pay for the business itself (grading & shipping costs, packing materials, new cards etc). I am am much smaller dealer than he is so it makes sense given our differing circumstances. I like what you said about sitting on stale inventory. Sure nobody likes to take a loss but what is the opportunity cost of you sitting on cards for months and months? Some food for thought.

BIN is best for rare/expensive cards for people's PC ex. case hit, /50 or less rookies, etc. If the card doesn't have any comps then then seller has to "creatively price" the card.

If your selling use the buy it now. But if your buying then try to win it on a bid unless U can find it cheaper on a buy it now.

Auctions are reality checks for people who wildly overvalue their cards. I see a ton of cards I’d love to own, but they’re sometimes $200-$300 over what I’d pay with no best offer. I’m like, “I can wait this out longer than you can.”

I buy whatever seems convenient at the time. Selling is a little different. Depends on the card.

Your logic is sound. The biggest problem I have is I have been on a tear buying Corbin Carroll and not want to part with them. It isn't so much the prospect of an immediate flip of a card, but unless you think a card is a long term PC or long-term investment, you have to be cagey about when to resupply your capital.

I love making a "or best offer" of $5 off the asking, having the seller being a dick and counter with the same price as posted, even though that card has been sitting there for 3 months. Good job dude, good job.

$5 off $20 card or $5 off a $200 card?

Anything past the year 2000 get rid of it as fast as u fan and go for the new play I normally list but it now right at last comp and take even less then last auction as a lot of times if u wait another auction that goes even lower then the last can screw u up even more

My rule of thumb. Auction the Rookie cards in their first year in the leagues and Buy it Now after the players Rookie Season is over

Auctions all day and night! Even the eyes on auctions vs BIN is not even close.
@kylekramer7188 ай бұрын
I have to disagree with you on value related to Auctions. I consistently see auctions prices well below Buy it Now prices. But the people who actually WANT those cards are doing Buy it Now. If you're in talks with a buyer about a card that they actually want (IE are not trying to just flip), then go off the Buy it Now. In a true auction (not an ebay auction), bidding stops when no one else is willing to bid higher, not when a clock runs out. So eBay auction comps are not an accurate representation of value in my opinion.

Sell BIN all day long, not gonna try & get $100 for a PSA 8 1990 Wolverine, Ill list at 17.49 & accept offers $12-$15 making $1-$5 on it. Thats majority of sales making $1-$10 on cards paid $2-$20 on. Best profits is believing in player buying in offseason to turn a $20 Tyreek Hills Select Tri-Color Prizm RC into a $50 sale while still selling at $20 below going comps. Only been selling since june everything bought on eBay majority auctions but plenty of BINs myself... Sold solely as BINs so far with lower end $5-$100 as my sweetspot. Its all about price & timing your buy so you have more options when it comes to selling. Im no expert or professional but started in June & 6months later trying to go full time at it. I do plan to auction off all my bad reads even if bad losses. No matter what your going to have to pay for your education so make sure your learning from it.

And while waiting for your BIN to sell. The comps continue to fall. If you want to sell run it.

Hello, so has ebay figured out if it's 600 dollars or 5,000 thousand dollars before a 1090 because from 20 thousand to 600 hundred dollars was unjustified because of congress and them doing what they did cv-19 and unfortunately that's how people survived during over 2 years. Ebay is your biggest platform and the security of getting scared after 250 dollars. Auction actually can hurt you 20 to 30% lower than expected.

Sports cards should be mandatory auctions can't trust random clowns making up prices that's why the market st in a decline it's not fanatics, or Panini fault it's on the consumers 100% who list cards after purchase for 10x mark up on Ebay. Now the same consumer whining pointing fingers at manafactuarers and grading companies what a joke and lack of awareness and morality😂😂 😅 If you sold a hyped RC who didn't pan out it's your fault

The research required to determine card values is the biggest hurdle to people buying cards. I wish more influencers promoted checking comps and reading checklists before buying card(s)

100% of my auctions are buy it now/best offer. Let’s say I want $20 for an item. If I were to do an auction I wouldn’t start it at $0.99, it would begin at $9.99 hoping to get $15+ for the item.
@BootBallersllc Жыл бұрын
Here come the effects of ultra modern being over produced. Sellers will start to panic sell and influx the market even more than it already is in attempt to get anything for their cards. It will then trickle to modern and vintage. You know the psa 9 is already equal to raw in most cases. The panic selling is coming in the next 2-6 months and rightfully so. SELL EVERYTHING NOW
@D1cards Жыл бұрын
The perfect answer is that the best way to move cards is to have a name in the hobby or big eBay store like scv. any other way stuff just won’t sell unless you want to lose money then yeah maybe it’ll sell imo
