This sucks. In the past, when I submitted an item appraised at $100k+, Heritage actually sent an amored car courier to pick it up and deliver to them. They come in with a large vinyl bag, had me place the item(s) insude and they seal the bag with a coded zip tie, then they take it away. I regularly ship cards & Graded/retro video games that are 4-5 figs, and for anything over $3k, I send by Next day air. The less time in transit, the better. The less opportunity there is for someone to steal or tamper.

I'm a mail carrier in the hobby. I know first hand it is easy to identify a package that contains sport cards. Especially with eBay authentication. I get nervous with shipping high dollar cards.

I recently just got a PO Box. Any card delivery for 3 weeks in a row on a Saturday it’s marked delivered and not in my mailbox. After the 3rd on a Saturday, I opened a P.O. Box. I live in a nice area, nothing is ever missing except Saturdays. Shady mailman on the weekend, it’s not the same guy who does Monday-Friday. I have no way to prove this, but a little weird when my normal guy doesn’t deliver it never makes it to me

From my experience, USPS eBay Standard Envelope hasn't given me any problems regarding claims. As for higher dollar stuff, I did the math and it's actually better saving the money you would've spent on insurance. It would cost you less in the long run if you just paid for the losses yourself. In addition, you could invest the money you saved to mitigate those losses even more.

My brother in law got an Ohtani auto /25 WBC redemption stolen on Dec 31...it disappeared last from FedEx in Mississippi regional center...worth about $5k

I’ve had multiple cards stolen by USPS and the eBay authenticity cardboard package is easily identifiable. Sometimes the ripped open cardboard shows up in a usps bag saying “sorry we damaged this” but no card is even in there. Always get my money back but the rare card I bought is gone forever and basically impossible to replace at the price I got. Sucks. They have o change the authenticity packaging

This happened to Nike a few years ago, they started putting their logo on the shipping boxes and shoes started to go missing with UPS/FedEx (I forgot who they used, I think UPS). I had a pair stolen. Customers were begging them to stop, I think after 2 years of refunding customers they finally switched back.

I have lost 20 plus cards in the USPS in the past 30 days, someone is definitely stealing my shit. Both my customers and I lose. Now I have a lower number on my EBAY account, which hurts my small business.

I had an Ebay return of “shipping damage” 85 Nike promo Jordan BGS 9. got the slab back warped/bent and ebay auto refunded the buyer. Shipped it USPS Priority with insurance. filed a claim and turned the card in to post office. claim denied due to lack of proof of value of item. submitted sales paperwork as well as comps from card ladder etc. then my appeal got denied again , this time they said i didnt turn in original packaging( which i never got from buyer anyways) . took them a couple days to actually find the card and give it back they said it was mis placed. had to take the L. bright side is i cracked the card out of the beat up slab and it actually looks like it could still grade a 9 thank goodness for those thick beckett slabs !

I hate shipping high dollar items as well. I am a half empty guy and on transactions over $1,000, I would say while every transaction went ok, three instances, the buyer TRIED to scam me by saying they didn't get it or everything wasn't included.

Beware, CIS shipping insurance has a deductible. So it only makes sense for $1500+ cards. (Unless you’ve already met the deductible in a year)

I just called CIS and if depends on the policy. If you just have a collector policy there is zero deductible. The idea is to be to cover shipping to grading companies. A dealer policy does have a deductible. Hope this helps

I recently received two PSA grading submissions returned a day apart going to my po box. Both required signature confirmation (the signature requirement is written just above the barcode on the package). One was put directly into my po box while I had to sign for the other. When I signed for the second package, I asked the postal worker why wasn't the first one held back for a signature and they said "I'm not surprised". Stupidity and laziness can be just as dangerous as theft. I still ship out with USPS with signature confirmation. An individual is accountable as it is shipped and signed off on and it's going thru federal facilities, but I still get a little nervous shipping/receiving valuable items in the mail.

I will only ship with USPS. There isn't much the the U.S. federal government will move quickly on, but mail theft and tampering is one of those.

Shipping is my greatest concern for loss, next is selling to a dishonest buyer who tries to scam me. However, I have had only one transaction go bad with thousands of my own transactions.

I've had a great luck with the usps & shipping however I had one period of time where this was not the case. When they first came out with that envelope shipping for raw cards under $25 I had a couple shipment lost. The only two were the times I dropped the card off at the same post office. My theory is a collector works there and at that time only cards could be mailed as such. I suppose he treated such packages as his personal break & took them.

I had to make one $600 claim maybe 7 years ago, it was a Priority Express package sent overseas. Easy to get the shipping and value refunded. I had 2 USPS packages ($100 each) shipped in December go missing, in the process of claims now.

The consigner is Probstein I have purchased items from him over the years and he makes no effort to hide what could be in the box. I received a case of blaster boxes shipped in the original cardboard box from the card company. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I hate shipping to companies or people that have the words “card, baseball, grading, PSA, etc” in their name. You are just begging for your stuff to get stolen. Just a reminder to fully insure your items. Don’t be cheap on insurance then complain when your stuff is lost/stolen
