They had the Buick Grand National then they made the limited edition Buick Grand National GNX which was much faster. Something like 500 GNXs were built they had over 300hp but claimed something like 275 on paper. With beefed up rear suspension & other better parts. A good condition GNX is worth $200,000 & up today.

Nobody can hate on this vehicle. It's a gorgeous piece of art. The wheels are the only misstep. The tires are a minimum of 5" taller than stock. The proportions are too skewed with the new ones. The side profile is all wheels & tires. The center locks are too chunky for the design as well. I wish I had the kind of cash it takes to build something like this. 😍😍
@JohnWalsh201910 күн бұрын
It's a work of art but I agree the rims are too big. I also dislike the exhaust, they should of had duals out the back.

No hate, but it should have a V6 turbo. Never been a fan of just V8 TT swapping everything to boast big HP numbers, especially on a car that had an iconic V6 to start with, but it's a beautiful build.

I think they did a very good job considering that stock, this is one of the ugliest damned cars that I ever remember seeing. I remember when it first came out and I was just appalled, because the styling was ridiculous with the horse-drawn carriage type notched roof with the rear 'opera' side windows? OMG, bloody hell! When this first came out, it was styled to appeal to old dads in the suburbs. And then that ugly front grill with the rectangular headlights. Eeee gahds.

@@jonathanjones1814 I agree, and not to mention with the RingBrothers one, it's still a Turbo Buick V6 under the hood. The Turbo V6 is part of the identity of the Grand National, and you're taking that away when you put an LS engine in there. You'd may as well be better off building a standard Regal or one of the other G body cars instead. These guys did incredible work, don't get me wrong, but the LS engine definitely takes this build a couple notches down for me.

I think it looks really good, but if I could have done anything different is that I'd have it still be the V6 buick engine or at least a stroked and fully built out one - then the second thing would be to go say one inch smaller on the rims (but still keep the wheel size the same so a touch more side wall) and maybe have it about 1/2 inch more fender gap as its just a little too low IMO.

what an insane piece of precision machinery, my favorite part is the interior, the way they fabricated that whilst maintaining that unique 80's factory vibe is completely of the hook. The only thing I like less are the wheels, they don't match the car to good in my humble opinion, not the fitment, 'cause that's a 100%, but the design of them. @@richki.24 I'm surprised they used a 3.8L V6 to make that much HP back then.....I always wondered why, if they wanted to make the fastest production car for 1987 why not go with a reinforced turbo V8 engine? Similar to the Sledgehammer twin turbo V8 C4 Corvette that was built a few years before the GNX & was faster. (But was aftermarket instead of stock) 🤔 I guess Buick knew their 3.8 V6 was a strong engine, could rev to higher rpms & was able to handle a lot of turbo boost pressure.
