Try an experiment, one day mind your own business. As in, zero eye contact unless you are speaking or being spoken to. The entire day. Next day walk through stores and make glances/eye contact with everyone. Making eye contact with a lot of people during the day (seeing what everyone is doing around me) leaves me much more drained at the end of the day.
