I was 19, standing in line at McDonald’s in Mill Woods. The guy standing in front of me blocked out my view of the menu on the wall that was behind the counter staff. As he stood there, he turned and I now could see his face. It was Dave , in person. I wasn’t sure if I should say nothing to him, but my mouth blurted out, Mr Semenko, I’m a Toronto Maple Leaf fan, but it’s an honour to set you in person. He smiled at me and said “ thank you”. He sounded so genuine in saying that. RIP.

I am in shock of learning of Dave's passing, being a Bruins fan, but mostly a fan of the NHL, I remember one of the first games we played against the Hartford Whalers, Dave's new team, it was in the middle of winter during 86-87 season, I wanted to meet Dave, he was known as Gretz's bodyguard for years, he snuck out of Boston Garden, the team buswas waiting for him, he comes down Causeway St, carrying a large pizza, I saw him and wanted to shake his hand, because of his role with the Oiler's, we shook hands and he stood outside that bus and talked with me for 10 minutes, I thanked him and wished him well, and he told me, hey kid, Thank you, for treating me like a regular guy, Semenk, God speed and Thank you for being a great ambassador for hockey. #27SemenkStrong

In Gretzky's book he wrote Semenko told Slather the training was going well, except for the running part. Slather said what's wrong? The knee acting up? Semenko-No, the wind keeps blowing out my cigarette!

i found this out today, it makes sad and i had to cry. The Edmonton Oilers would not be Stanley Cup champions 4 years in a row without him doing his job to keep the greats healthy enough to win all those cups. May he RIP and may god bless his soul. Amen

Jeesh I had no Idea. First time I saw him was in Edmonton 1979. Oilers vs Hartford Whalers WHA. Wayne was 18. Whalers had Gordie Howe and his two sons on the team. My cousin an Edmonton native says look out there's Semenko. I said damn I wouldn't mess with that guy. The oilers won 4-3. Gretzky scored twice. He reminded me of a teenage Guy Lafluer. I didn't want his autograph. He wasn't famous except for in Edmonton. I got Mr Hockey's autograph. I guess I shoulda got Wayne's too smh. RIP Dave Semenko. Well done. Well lived life. God Bless your family.

I have a book from Gretzky. He said, Semenko was most funny guy in Oilers. He was the beast on the ice only.

Wow, I just saw this video and it is 29.05.2020. I remember vividly Dave Semenko in the corner trying to dig the puck out and Stan Smyl, Van. captain, pushing Dave's back trying to be "tough". Dave looked around and down and grinned when he saw Stanley. He toyed with Stan and skated away. Dave was a classy guy the way he tried to protect Gretzky. From a transplanted Canadian living in New Zealand.

Arnold Dean , A long time respected radio host in Hartford, since passed in 2012. Once had said of all sports figures he had met in all sports, that hockey players seemed the most respectful. He felt it was possibly due to the fact many were brought up with old fashioned values, morals due to being many from farms and rural Canada. And I agree. And listening to all this the word I think of is class. And I give my respects.

I met Paul and he seemed in a bad mood , I shook his hand and said it was great to have him on the team and he just said yeah , and he didn't seem to thrilled . . So after just 18 games with Boston Paul says he can't hack it anymore and Sinden has to buy him out at 2 million . What a bust !
