@zsoujiro I agree. Abi taught us to be able to roll and look anywhere, but you are correct that it must be done in a way that makes tactical sense. In our shibu, we work on this constantly....

@orovalleydude That's good... Also, I think one has to progressively learn to trust and train your periferal perception without actually having to "look". You can't always look directly, but you have to know (feel, hear, even smell) what is there... The path of the warrior isn't just long, it doesn't end. Keep on the good training, good day!

@orovalleydude This is all excellent taijutsu and ukemi. It is indeed important to be able to roll and look wherever you need to look, the guy does it nicely. However, I also see that in order to keep looking while doing the kaiten, the uke doesn't curl up his body completely so he is unable to regain balance quickly... My point is that you shouldn't sacrifice self body (kamae) perception for the sake of enviroment perception, and viceversa... It is a matter of finding true balance, right? :)

I really do wish that a man intent on killing me would actually attack and react that way. Sadly, that is not likely. Nice video, though. It is commendable that these fellas are training regardless of what is is.
