Il Mutant Candlelight deriva da una particolare mutazione di un Capsicum annuum e cioè il Candlelight Red, che genera piante con cotiledoni, foglie e petali dei fiori filiformi. Questa mutazione, dovuta al gene FILIFORM, può manifestarsi in qualsiasi Capsicum pertanto possono esistere anche altre varietà con caratteristiche diverse affette da questa mutazione.
La pianta è molto compatta, un esemplare adulto ha un’altezza di 20 - 25 cm e 30 cm di larghezza. Sviluppa ramificazioni sin dalla base ed all’apice di ogni ramificazione sono presenti gruppi di foglie da cui poi nasceranno fiori e frutti a grappolo. Le foglie del Mutant Candlelight sono larghe pochi millimetri e lunghe in media 5 cm. I fiori sono bianchi e presentano tutte le caratteristiche tipiche dei fiori di Capsicum Annuum eccezion fatta per la forma dei petali che sono sottili e lunghi. La maggior parte dei frutti sono Partenocarpici cioè privi di Semi, di piccole dimensioni e forma irregolare, mediamente solo un frutto su 10 contiene qualche seme, da questo si evince l’assoluta rarità di questa pianta che si considera una pianta per Collezionisti. La piccantezza è irregolare, in alcuni casi non è percepibile mentre in altri è leggera generalmente intorno ai 10.000 Shu. Tuttavia questa caratteristica è irrilevante in quanto trattasi di pianta ornamentale per collezionisti senza alcuna valenza culinaria.
Le piante che manifestano questa mutazione sembrano essere particolarmente resistenti sia al freddo con temperature prossime allo 0, che al caldo torrido e siccità, anche per questo si ritiene che sia originario del deserto magrebino.

The Mutant Candlelight derives from a particular mutation of a Capsicum Annuum, namely the Candlelight Red, which generates plants with cotyledons, leaves and thread-like flower petals. This mutation, due to the FILIFORM gene, can occur in any Capsicum therefore there may also be other varieties with different characteristics affected by this mutation.
The plant is very compact, an adult specimen has a height of 20 - 25 cm and 30 cm in width. It develops ramifications from the base and at the apex of each branch there are groups of leaves from which flowers and fruit clusters will then arise. The leaves of the Mutant Candlelight are a few millimeters wide and on average 5 cm long. The flowers are white and have all the typical characteristics of Capsicum Annuum flowers except for the shape of the petals which are thin and long. Most of the fruits are Parthenocarpic, i.e. without seeds, small in size and irregular in shape, on average only one fruit in 10 contains some seeds, which shows the absolute rarity of this plant. The spiciness is irregular, in some cases it is not perceptible while in others it is light. However, this characteristic is irrelevant as it is an ornamental plant for collectors without any culinary value.
The plants that demonstrate this mutation appear to be particularly resistant both to the cold with temperatures close to 0, and to scorching heat and drought, which is also why it is believed to be native to the Maghreb desert.

El Mutant Candlelight deriva de una mutación particular de un Capsicum annuum, concretamente el Candlelight Red, que genera plantas con cotiledones, hojas y pétalos de flores en forma de hilos. Esta mutación, debida al gen FILIFORM, puede ocurrir en cualquier Capsicum por lo que también puede haber otras variedades con características diferentes afectadas por esta mutación.
La planta es muy compacta, un ejemplar adulto tiene una altura de 20 a 25 cm y 30 cm de ancho. Desarrolla ramificaciones desde la base y en el ápice de cada rama hay grupos de hojas de las que luego surgirán flores y racimos de frutos.
