Kenoticism, not to be confused with the similarly named 'Kenobism", a christological heresy wherein one confuses pictures of Ewan McGregor in robes for our Lord. (Talk about humilitating the divine nature)

Dr. Cooper, thank you for addressing the view that assigns the supernatural works of Christ to the Holy Spirit, in a Reformed context this is the usual approach, there is much to study and learn, I appreciate your effort.

Please do more videos like this. This is very helpful for me as the average lay person. I want to read and study all this theology but being guided through it actually makes it happen and helps my understanding as well. Thank you.

"I'm not an imposter" exactly the thing an imposter would say. You can tell when it's a J-Coopz imposter by the presence or lack of jacket.

Could you do a video (series?) on the 95 Theses and the Explanation? That's a fascinating read.

I'd support going through Weidner's dogmatics, especially his volume on Penumatology. Especially since it's about the applied work of the Holy Spirit.

I'm really puzzled about how to understand will as a function of nature/person/being. I stand by the understanding of will being a product of nature and not person (therefore one divine will not three) and two natures in Christ (divine and human) but it confuses me when looking at humans in general since we, collectively, have only a single nature (human) but different wills according to our individual being/substance. So... It's is appropriate to say will is a product of nature coinciding with substance? 1 divine substance × 1 divine nature = 1 divine will 1 substance × 2 natures = 2 wills of Christ 7 bil substances × 1 nature: 7 bil human wills On a scale of 1-10 how stupid/heterodox did I just sound?

We are embodied, and separate from each other. Separate mind body and soul but shared nature. Whereas the Father Son and Holy Spirit are in some sense in each other, a doctrine which is called perichoresis. Also one has to keep in mind this doctrine was worked out with an ancient doctrine of anthropology, and will. Will is a force of desire that is itself directed or guided by the reason or intellect. Reading Lombard or Thomas Aquinas on the human will, will give you a better understanding of the way these things are defined. Reading Thomas on the Will also helps one to understand Luther’s Bondage of the Will better. Reading Maximus the Confessor’s “Disputations with Pyrrhus” will help a lot too. The exegetical route the father’s took to get here was Isaiah 43 with Psalm 135 and Daniel 4, and John 1. Jesus is God (Yahweh) and Yahweh is the only God and Yahweh does as He pleases in Heaven and Earth. The Father has given the Son to do as He will (pleases), John 5. So if the Father Son and Spirit are all Yahweh, and Yahweh does as He pleases, that is, does all He desires, then the desires of the Father Son and Spirit are one. This is also an exegetical defense against subordination of the Son, because the words submission and subordination imply a difference of will. But it is inconceivable to consider that Jesus says he saves whomever he will, and yet also say he desired to save anyone that perhaps the Father did not desire to see saved.

Dr Cooper, do you think that the structure of the academic world (publish or perish etc.) contributes to the proliferation of new heretical ideas? Repeating the eternal truth is great, but I suspect that publishing "new" and controversial views is the way to get attention and get published. It's similar to the way that social media encourages hot takes over accurate information. Unlike many other fields, we generally want to avoid "innovative" theology.

Honest question. Why do u always block your supporters on Twitter? Do u not realize we help pay ur bills? I have spent hundreds of dollars on your books and I’m sure many others who support u u have blocked as well.
@DrJordanBCooper Жыл бұрын
Do you like tweets from people who threaten me and my family? Because, yes, that gets an automatic block.

@@DrJordanBCooper I can’t tell u how many posts I’ve seen of folks showing that u have blocked them (including me) who have never even interacted with u on Twitter or said anything about u. I’ve seen probably about 5 people in the last 2 days say the same thing and all of them are ur supporters like myself.

@@DrJordanBCooper I honestly looked up to u and respected u like many of these other folks and have spent tons of money buying ur books. And to be blocked for absolutely no reason at all is completely out of this world. I even seen some Presbyterian today showing that u blocked him and he didn’t even know who u were lol. Keep going at this rate and u will have no supporters and income from ur books.

@Tensions The constant harassment from trolls on Twitter has made it impossible to use the site without blocking, so I've used some block chains to try and weed people out. Don't take it personally.
