Too true - I'm in the UK - We've had a mixed response but it has generally been pretty generous... Self employed have had a lot of help and the government has been covering 80% (until recently) of wages for this people who's companies have to temporarily lay them off. Unemployment benefit is very meagre though. I heard you guys have been getting enhanced unemployment - but is there any kind of furlough scheme to actually keep people in work and businesses afloat?

Middle of April for most Americans, if it is even 1400 Dollar.... "When would I get a third stimulus check? Whatever the size, it's looking like another round of stimulus checks may not land in bank accounts until mid- or late March, based on Schumer's time frame. The new Senate Majority leader acknowledged "that the next round of fiscal stimulus remains a month to 6 weeks away," Hammond noted on January 26. After the relief bill passes Congress, it must be signed by the president. After that, the IRS would distribute funds through direct deposit, mailed checks and prepaid debit cards. If a package is passed by the end of March, people might get their checks starting by early April." Source NYT

I still dont understand how an ordinary American would want to ever vote Republican.
@partycentralsales
@partycentralsales 3 жыл бұрын
I voted for the outside politics candidate, Donald Trump, as a protest to try and wake up both parties, but especially the Democrat Party, which has become the party of Big Tech, Wall Street, and Big Pharmaceuticals since Bill Clinton was elected in 1992. The Republican Party has always been the party of big business, but the Democrats, starting under Clinton, have joined them by getting more campaign donations from Wall Street and Big Tech than even the Republicans, by voting for NAFTA, by allowing China to join the WTO, and by granting the latter most-favored nation status. Both parties actively work against the economic interests of the overwhelming majority of the citizens they supposedly represent. The above policies cost the U.S. a minimum of 4.2 million manufacturing jobs and allowed a Communist regime that uses unfair trade practices and slave labor to become our economic rival. The people who got replacement jobs in the service sector make an average of 13% less than in their previous manufacturing jobs. Clinton also signed off on repealing Glass-Steagle, the boon to Wall Street which facilitated the banking/mortgage crisis that displaced 10 million people from their homes and forced millions of older Americans to put off their retirement because they lost their savings. George Bush kept up the policy, and Barack Obama also failed to reinstate the act even when outrage by the Tea Party on the right and Occupy Wall Street on the left made it an easy fix with the super majority in Congress the Dems held when he was elected. Instead, Wall Street, the International Monetary Fund, and European banks got a trillion dollars. Now the U.S taxpayer will forever be on the hook for this money and all of the future “to big to fail” debacles of the wealthy. Uncontrolled immigration, which was supposed to have been fixed with a compromise made during the Reagan administration, has continued through the Bush, Clinton, Bush, and Obama years and has significantly depressed wages because the main players in both parties are, regardless of lip-service, for open borders. Republicans have always wanted the cheap labor, and Democrats have always thought it would generate more votes. A person working in a meat processing plant, adjusted for inflation, made $24.49 per in 1974. In 2016, the wage for the same job averaged $13.79 per hour. The use of H1B visas by Big Tech to import foreign workers reduces American tech wages between $10,000 and $25,000 per year and allows the industry to ignore the failing education system in this country. If I were one of the employees of Disney who was forced to train my foreign replacement or else lose my severance package, I would have voted for Trump on that score alone because Hillary Clinton was for the program and also for another trade deal (the Trans Pacific Partnership) that would have shipped more U.S. jobs overseas. Another contributing factor to lower wages has been the erosion of labor laws. The Dems, with their super majority in part of Obama’s first term, failed to address the problem. Unfortunately, instead of examining why Clinton lost, attempting to understand why the blue wall of PA, MI, and WI voted for Trump, and recognizing that many Americans were unhappy with the economic direction of the country over the last twenty years, the Democrats, and much of the media (Rachel Maddow included), went down the Trump-was-a-Russian-agent rabbit-hole and suggested that the election of Trump was illegitimate, which opened the door for his own outrageous election fraud claims in 2020. Also an unfortunate result from the Democrat Party’s and media’s lack of self-reflection over the reason for Trump’s initial election, is the fact that we now have Joe Biden, an establishment Democrat who went along with most of the above policies, as president, instead of a different Democrat president who could have changed the economic status quo. If the Democrats and Republicans don’t stand up to Wall Street, Big Tech, Big Pharma, formulate a sensible immigration policy, and address China’s unfair trade practices and slave labor policies then the thin-skinned, bombastic, bullying, orange narcissist, might be back.

@@partycentralsales trump was the biggest pro business president, anti individual rights president, also the first president to actually lose jobs during his tenure bt you guys claim he created jobs. Fact under bush we were in a recession, obama took us out of the recession and the unemployment rate was down to 4.3 % and improving. Trump came in and unemployment went down to 3.7% the lowest in the last 50 years so everybody credited him not obama but the policies of obama improved our economy and carried over to trump. Thrump squandered that while president and now we are at 7% almost double, you can blame covid but his inaction on combatting covid contributed to that figure. I have never got free money from the govt before 2020 but both oarties including trump agreed to give money to prople which may or may not sink our country further down the rabbit hole,

@@tonimcclary1715 I never claimed Trump created jobs. My point was that some people voted for Trump in 2016 because he was not part of the political establishment that had let the U.S. worker down during the Clinton, Bush, and Obama administrations. All of those administrations sold us out to global economic interests instead of working on behalf of the people they were elected to represent. Voting for Trump was a failed strategy because Democrats blamed his win on Russia rather than saying Wow, the American electorate is really angry with the policies we've implemented and the problems we've ignored. My future voting strategy will have to go back to voting against every incumbent Democrat in the Democratic congressional and presidential primaries in my state. I will try to convince as many people as I can to do the same in both parties, especially in states that have open primaries. We need to get candidates to realize that they must not only consider the interests of Wall Street and Big Tech. People who think Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi care about the interests of the American worker are delusional. The pat response to this has always been to say they are better than Republicans. That answer isn't good enough anymore.

It’s not just the GOP. It’s established Democrats as well. Both Republican and Democrat congresses and presidents went along with NAFTA and also allowed China into the WTO and granted them most-favored nation status, resulting in the loss of 4.2 million manufacturing jobs. The people who were fortunate enough to get replacement jobs in the service sector now make 13% less. Many others have become victims of the opioid crisis. In addition to agreeing to the above, Bill Clinton went along with a Republican congress and repealed Glass-Steagle, which eventually facilitated the mortgage/banking crisis that displaced 10 million people from their homes and wiped out a lot of people’s savings. Obama had a Dem super majority in Congress during the onset of the financial crises and could have heeded the calls of both the Tea Party on the right and Occupy Wall Street on the left to reinstate the wall between commercial and investment banking to protect us from future debacles. Did he do that? No. He just gave a trillion dollars to Wall Street, the International Monetary Fund, and European banks. Why? - Since the Clinton administration, the Democrat Party takes more campaign money from investment banks and big tech than Republicans do. Obama could have solved some of the wealth gap during the 2008 financial crises but he was too beholden to Wall Street special interests and followed Tim Geitner’s advice too closely. He had a Dem majority, but he didn’t have the imagination or boldness to take advantage of a golden opportunity. The world was dependent on the U.S. Federal Reserve for a bailout to avoid a global depression. He could have tied strings to the money and the ability to trade in precious U.S. dollars. He could have made every country who wanted access to the International Monetary Fund and U.S. dollars to sign a treaty that prohibited banking secrecy, that forced the repatriation of hidden money to the country of origin to be taxed under said country’s tax laws, that standardized the corporate tax rate throughout the world, and that instituted a uniform Tobin tax on financial transactions. We are having a repeat of the capture of both parties, this time by Big Tech, in the bipartisan repeal of caps on foreign guest worker visas during a time of mass unemployment of American workers. Why did Dems go along with this? Because they are the creatures of Big Tech firms who want not only to pay lower wages but who want the control over the their workforce that a guest visa permits. I could go on and on. Suffice it to say that neither party acts in the interest of the American worker. Republicans have always been the party of big business; unfortunately, Democrats, despite their lip service, joined them about 30 years ago.

He didn’t answer any of the questions, he just restated how we’re in a difficult time over and over again.

True. I played this over again thought I missed the date of when we will receive this. All politicians answer their questions this way.

I so agree with you on illegal immigrants. Also the fact that he was so eager to lift the Muslim Travel Ban is very upsetting. These muslim will come in your neighborhood and set up mosques and do their praying over loud speakers at 5am everyday but we as christians cannot have church bells ring on a sunday morning. In Texas they build one next to a pig farm and demanded that the farmer move his pigs somewhere else. How absurd is that.

Yes and when you have the unemployment people that can't return your calls for your appeal do you know how many families are waiting for their appeal to fight their case and they're still claiming and no money coming in and you're working a job that is only making 12 hours looking for another job you guys just don't know what families are going through the lights about to get cut off because this is what I'm going through if anyone cares and the families that are going through it like I am I'm praying for you every night and God is with us
