I see both side of the pardons. I kind of think that the Dems should have just let the GOP take ‘em back to court and dis it all out again. As MAGA’s cost of living rises, their personal rights are taken away, and health care worsened or removed entirely, Medicare & Medicaid weakened, them now having to PAY for their children’s education, just having them watch and hear how Jan 6 came about, seeing the stuff ‘maybe’ for the first time, because this time it would be Trump & Co doing the prosecuting. One way to get the truth to them. Anyway, I too would have pardoned all of these people. They don’t deserve to be persecuted for doing the right thing.

For decades the immigrants that did the farming were legal documented workers. I grew up with a guy from mexico working for my dad, a farmer. Every 6 months he would take a trip down to mexico to renew his green card. Finally after several years, he got his citizenship and my dad threw him a big party. Shortly after that, he started the process of bringing his wife her legally. Years past and both of them became good productive American citizens. We do not need illegals to pick the crops and drive tractors. "Family separation" Trump has said the kids would go back with the parents, so no separation. IF they are married to an American citizen just to get a green card, but do not even know where that spouse is, the odds are they will get deported.

I'm glad the process worked for your father's farm hand. I'm afraid the ag industry is so large and so dependent on migrant workers (documented or not) that mass deportation will devastate that industry. I not believe the migrants married to US citizens will be spared. Those families will be split up. The US citizen and their US citizen children will likely remain here and loose their bread winner. We need a better immigration policy but, this heavy handed approach will be bad for the US economy and society.

For decades, the ratio of legal to illegal was between 10 to 1 and 15 to 1. Then BIden open the doors and said "ye all should come" and they did. Now the ratio is somewhere around 1 to 3, with illegals outnumbering the legal ones. Immigrant workers have long been the stable of the agriculture industry, but now most of the immigrants are not in agriculture. They are in construction, customer support industries (convenience and grocery store) and they are making it hard for legal citizens and legal immigrant workers to get jobs. Worse, a large number of them do not ever try to work. They want to set around and get paid by the state for doing nothing because "this is the land of milk and honey". Why should they have to work hard when the white american tax payers can work hard to support them. That is what they are being told, its a race thing and only whites are hurt. Truth is, its all races, including hispanics that came here legally. They will not deport people with valid green cards and such, so the agriculture industry will not be impacted nearly as much as people like you proclaim. Even that much will be slow, since the first ones they go after are the criminals and gang members. It would take years go get down to the "lowly" agriculture worker.
