I've got the new boom no2 with the Rockford Fosgate speakers and it's awesome... I just installed the whim on my street glide and at 80+ mph I can talk very easily on cellphone calls... it's kinda expensive but when you look at it the price of a new lid and then adding com system your gonna be around 600 bucks so it's a great buy

Hard call for me. I actually need another helmet but I'm at the crossroads of my personal preference. Part of me wants to get another 3/4 helmet. I like open face.. most of the time. And I really like that people can see me when I'm vlogging. On the other hand, a 3/4 helmet is a bear in cold and/or wet. And my audio should sound even better in a closed helmet. I ride with other people less and less so the intercommunication is moving further into the back seat. Sometimes. But not often. One thing I really liked about the 20 is the ambient sound option. When people try to talk to me on the bike, I just give up. _"I can't hear you. I'll never hear you. No matter how loud you scream, I don't hear it."_ That has led to a unique form of sign language which extensively uses the middle finger. Music is a big deal for me. Even with my old Sena, I wore earbuds coming out of the Sena instead of using the speakers. Open-faced helmet. Lots of noise. When my old Sena died... fat battery syndrome.. I got used to wearing earbuds coming out of the phone. It sounds better and my battery lasts longer. But I have no way to talk back to my phone at this point. Not while the engine's running and CERTAINLY not at speed. Admittedly, isn't wasn't a LOT better with my Sena. Open-faced helmet. I'm guessing I could still plug the earbuds directly to the phone and use the BT to talk to Siri. And.. with a full helmet, it opens up camera mounting options like everyone else has. Okay... even vlogging aside.. I think you sold a helmet. You have a trustworthy face.. like Jimmy Stewart but different. But it's probably going to be 2 or 3 months so, if you change our mind... let me know. ;-)
@DirtyDeez5 жыл бұрын
Awesome post Chris. You bring up a whole lot of good points. This one does also have the ambient sound option with a small external mic. So many other features, I just gave a few because I want to build those particulars into a whole different video. That video will serve more as a cheat sheet for me to tell you the truth. For earphones have you ever tried Plugfones? Check them out, very comfortable but supposedly good for hearing protection at the same time.
