There needs to be a two pronged approach to this solution- one, affordability of new medications for weight loss and funding for nutritional counseling/coaching education for those who have already been brought hook, line, and sinker into the ultraprocessed food science; and two, how we feed our children to stop the addiction before it begins, through labeling requirements as well as teaching adults how to cook healthfully for cheap, and providing healthy food in our schools. This is why my Grampa always had a garden and 3 fruit trees in the back yard! And always went to the local butcher for beef and chicken and pork cuts. He and my Granma and Moms and Aunt were never fat!

Processed foods all needs to be controlled and labeled appropriately. Most important start eating natural unprocessed foods. People have gotten more into health foods. But expenses have kept from being able to afford these more healthy products because growing organic is more expensive. Why do they have all these different eggs when should just have the healthiest?. Like pasture raised organic eggs. Why not feed all the chickens the best food the best way. Teach family values through proper eating and meal planning. Ban high fructose corn sweetener and all sweeteners that are known hazardous to health. The artificial ones too. All fillers that are known non nutritional. Stop breaking up our natural foods. Stop testing on our animals. They've already tested on us all. People teach your children to use their brain when choosing for their stomach. Teach the power of all our senses when young. All sounds so easy but we're losing children to disease because parents are not concerned with eating healthy meals along with their children. If kids miss one meal in three because of school they at least can learn from home the basics. Greed for money is the problem of course so start at home and support what and who you know to change things for the better. Let people do their own advertising of what's good for their family. People will eventually not buy the cancer foods.

Since our traditional, by now, processed foods diet has eroded our cooking knowledge base and skills! Plant based, satisfying, freshly prepared foods will Definitely require more cooking skills than the average American currently has.

I don't think you are fully informed about childhood obesity in China. During the one child polisy period, sons were often called "chubby meatballs" because their parents spoiled them with high calorie junk food. It didn't matter the income level of the families. Fat, sugar, and starch combo are hard wired into our genes as desirable because throughout most of human history, getting enough calories was the problem. Where unlike today in the Western nations, we almost always have all the calories we could possibly want available.

Yet the FDA won't even look at other countries where obesity isn't a big problem. The weightloss drugs are good at low dose to block the addictiveness of engineered food. They are approving of engineering fish, meat, fruit and vegetables. Whole foods are being genetically poisoned so nothing is natural or healthy.

I’m a dietitian and treat many children with overweight, obesity, prediabetes, T2DM, fatty liver and dyslipedimia. 98% of these children have at least one of the 4 things in common: don’t eat more than 1-2 vegetables or fruits per day, drink sugary drinks including fruit juice, soda, sport drinks and flavored milk, spend more than 2 hours in screen time (the new baby sitter) and they are not active at all. There are many studies that show the importance of a registered dietitian to treat all of these diseases. However, no all insurance including Medicare and Medicaid cover all of them. Parents and children need nutrition education. Fighting against food industry is part of the solution for treating and prevention. The food industry is not congruent with the dietary guidelines. Dietitians should be there in the first line for prevention and treating those conditions. Food industry should be liable for part of the health cost of those.

We need Bernie! His education is the best! Walking through my grocery store, I’m observing more and more competitive and Similar products ! The bread isle is almost impossible to enter and most walking space in this Store I go to is taken by Advertising product of about everything we need!
