I don’t even know First i wasn’t only talking about people in the U.S. i was talking about foreigners in general who don’t know much about the genre. Of course anyone can like a cute concept but that wasn’t what i was talking about and my friend wasn’t talking about their concept either. She was trying to put a point that people who don’t know much about Kpop might generalize it to sound like a twice song (keyword might). I agree that she shouldn’t have put “this is what actual Kpop sounds like” but this video was also made a few months ago and she’s changed and i don’t think she’ll make those mistakes again.

hello, i am a south korean girl myself and just wanted to say that everything you have mentioned in this video is correct but people often also miss this point: kpop stands for korean pop which means people sing in korean (pop music) and kpop isnt only about boygroups and girlgroups. people never think about solos especially korean legends like Gummy and Im Chang Jung. Everything is about gg and bg these days when people say kpop. I just wanted to say this ^^ thank you for making this cool video!

My friends are so stuck on the opinion that it’s stupid and question why people even like it. I ask if they have even watched a single k-pop vid, and they say no. I’ve respected their opinion (and opinion that makes no sense to me) but they also come up to me saying k-pop is stupid, even when I wasn’t even talking about k-pop. I just stand there and say “okay” as much as I want to retort back. Anime Lover Cause girl groups, though they are beginning to improve, are still horrible at choreographies and can be much too focused on the body and the faces of the girls, which some, like me, absolutely loathe. Especially the ‘cute concept’ that some are struggling to move past. What all girl groups need is to take a good look at their horrid choreography and actually dAncE, and change at the focuses of their mv’s, and actually, I’ve been seeing some improvement on the cinematic and aesthetic points of girl groups’ mv’s. And their actual music is a huge, if not most important, factor of liking a group - and to most people, that is the making or breaking of a group. Girl groups nowadays are starting to progress from what used to sound like children’s songs with much too high-pitched childish voices, repetitive sounds that sound like a babies’ blabbering, and simply all-out trash music. Nowadays they’re definetely changing, toning down the ‘cutesy’ that really just looks childish and now going for a more bada** style. Of course, these are two extremeties that they must learn to balance, as some girl groups can take it too far and just become horrible again - from childish and showing off their clothed bodies and faces to trying to be seductive and trying to show off skin and making rather unpleasant facial expressions. bUT!! We all know that they CAN do it - as some girl groups already have!! They’ve managed to create beautiful MV’s, lyrics that are better than before, music that is most certainly better than before, and having styles and attitudes that are MAJOR STRIDES towards being short of absolutely e p i c. All that remains still is to improve upon their choreographies!! That’s just one reason I’d think of for not showing a girl group - their culture of that kind of girl being ideal shows too much in girl groups - and that might be a second reason. Kpop is a style that is kind of like an acquired taste. You must gradually become accustomed to it before being able to deal with the more intense stuff. Like spicy food. You can’t swallow a spoonful of jalapeño salsa if you’ve never eaten anything spicy in your life. You’ve gotta start small and develop your way into it. That kinda goes for kpop. I myself only got into it because I had no idea what it was and because I am open to new things and because I started with music and lyrics and dance and mv’s that hit home for me. I tell you, if I’d seen the girl groups first, I would’ve shunned kpop from my life. What girl groups used to be like feels degrading. And it would’ve been so incredibly different that I just wouldn’t like it at all - now, though, I understand at a basic level why they were the way they used to be, and, having developed an understanding of hOw to enjoy kpop, I can listen to some girl group songs without a problem - at least, those that have moved on from the ‘cute concept’. Actually - the idea of knowing hOw to enjoy something also plays a huge role. Someone totally new to kpop might look at a girl group mv or listen to one of their songs and just not know what to think about it. It really is something else. Starting with the language. At first, for me, korean sounded... eh. I did grow to love the language. But before, I wouldn’t find their voices nice at all because of the language - even if I looked at the lyrics, it was just as simple as the sound of the language that was the first barrier I had to cross to enjoy most of the songs I listen to. I actually don’t listen to a lot of kpop, but I do have some knowledge about it so eeehhhhhhhhh So you see, I have come up with all these reasons why girl groups weren’t on the real kpop and probably it just happened to be that way for no reason at all and I just spen half an hour on this comment and it’s two in the morning. lil cub chaeyoung ok ive been kinda stanning twice lately but the person didnt mean that they are not talented. But they cant show it through their current styles. And not just because of cute concepts bp has badass concept yet lisa doesnt get many complicated dance breaks so i think making girl groups only visually pleasant is insult to the the members talent. Even if they are cute or badass there must be some element of the songs that showcase every talent in the group. Otherwise it lacks so many things. In my opinion twice's chaeyoung is one of the best rappers in this generation but we didnt hear any proper rap verse from her just because twice's song structures. Even though the beat and melody differs from each other the building is pretty the same in most of the songs. Also they dont use momo's talent %100 too. I mean she was hella lit in sixteen but we barely see her dancing rn plus they make her voice childish while her original voice is awesome. I dont agree with that person in everything she said but i agree that ggs should be trying new things not concept wise but quality wise. They dont have to look cute, badass or sexy all the time. Its like there are only 3 options for ggs while bgs are more free with their approach to their music. Female idols can do hardcore dance breaks or other dancing styles too like bgs. Dancing does not require any gender so why the companies always do the same concept. Some female idols can literally do break dance and popping but we dont see that often. I believe all the ggs out there can do better than this but this is not their fault. Its the company who decides so they are stuck with the %90 while they can give their full potential.

For me, personally, i didn't like most girl groups until later cuz i got adjusted to their sound because I just wasn't used to the kind of sound many girl groups have?
