All the horses look well fed and healthy. I still can't help but wonder, what do they eat out there in the desert? Do you feed out in particularly dry years?
@PaintedDesertRanch3 жыл бұрын
The vegetation out here is pretty nutrient dense compared to other areas. We also run thousands of acres so they get plenty to eat. And yes, some years are bad and we do have to feed them out. I get this comment often, I think one day soon I’ll do a video about it.

@@pedroh.appaloosa2105 the American Quarter Horse has Spanish & Thoroughbred blood running through its veins. Paints also have Spanish blood running their veins. Like the snaking of the stud. Knight Owl's pedigree is cut off on the top. All I saw was 'Leo" that I know of. The other stallions and mares do not ring a bell with me. Like the name of Knight Owl. What cute foals at the end.

There's a lot of foundation blood back there a ways. Can you let your colts out for a couple of years? Two years running out there does a wonder for their sure footedness. I applaud you if you are able to keep those horses sound with those barb wire fences. I have ruined several horses with barbed wire and it bothers me a lot.
@leroytipton23402 жыл бұрын
I had a small ranch and just ran horses, so I used horse friendly fencing. However their ranch covers about 70 square miles and has many cross fences too. Their pastures also have to hold cattle. Plus their fences have to keep the livestock off the train tracks and I-40, which go right through their ranch. Given that 40,000-50,000

@PaintedDesertRanch3 жыл бұрын
Hi! All the pastures are a little different- they each have a few sections give or take. They will stay with them for about three months. Henson and Jerry will decide each year what mares get put with what stud... so every year it varies.

Im sure neither of ya even know it but its in my opinion that when you throw a heavy saddle onto their back it has to hurt with the stir ups slamming into their sides ect. Just check it out for yourselfs when editing. Like I said Im a fan of your ranch in fact love it! So before ya reply pls just look back and see if you see what im sayin is all. Have a good one guyz. I know what what you’re saying. Most of the horses we ride are young client horses and we don’t need to tip toe around them, we actually do that on purpose once in a while because what if- when the horse gets sent back home-the owner does that??? Are they going to be spooked because we just tip toed around them?? We hope to prepare them for any situation they might face. It’s just like backing a horse out of a trailer... do we always do that?? No, but it does prepare the horse in case of an accident, or if the owner has a trailer that a horse can only back out of. I hope you can see our side as trainers. Thanks for watching!
