mine is sick af i love it. i took the forward barrel band off of mine and replaced it with a 12mm inner diameter carbon fiber tube which i slid down the barrel to the rear sight barrel band and then torqued down on it with the thread adapter to make a tensioned free float barrel and now i get groups slightly smaller than 1/4 inch center to center in .22 at 20 yards (or 60 feet)

Right on! It sounds like I was on the right track In later videos after noticing the excessive barrel movement on this gun. I sent mine back for a refund as it wasn’t accurate past 35 yards and I really didn’t like the pumping action. Really cool that you got yours sorted out.

@@ericstough6513 I was initially pretty excited about this gun even with my first issue. But after time I became frustrated with the lack of long range accuracy and I felt I was misled by the stellar reviews from the big, sponsored YT channels. I replaced this gun with a Benjamin 397S which has been extremely accurate out to 50 yds. I do miss the excellent trigger on the Dragonfly though. It has a ton of potential and a lot of great features and a good feel. Nice to hear it can be modified to be improved over stock.

I replaced both the larger pin there and the smaller pin with the roller with machine screws and lock nuts. The problem is you have to hone out the stock a little to accommodate those. My c clips fell off the first time I used the gun. No problems since the fix.

@@airgunsofalaska I did it in steps . I bought a 1/2 liter bottle and valve and hand pumped to 3000 psi over 3 days of intermittent pumping . I was able to fill my home made 2240 pcp 14 or 15 times by just dumping 1000 psi and refilling from there . However it's a bitch to pump a 1/2 liter bottle . So I bought a compressor for cheaper than you paid for the Dragonfly , it only had 1 button to operate fan and compressor and failed on the 1st try . I was watching a torture test of the Vevor compressor by walnut and Steel and liked what I saw . I returned the spiritech compressor and which cost 180 bucks and bought the vevor for 230 bucks it works fine but I did have a leak in the filter part of the hose and had to use plumbers tape , after that everything worked perfectly. I figure it takes around 700 to a 1000 bucks to be up and running with a gun in pcp , call it 270 for the gun , 45 for a pump , 100 for a bottle and valve and 200 to to 250 on the econo side for a compressor . For my tiny resiviour 2240 pcp it takes 22 pumps with the hand pump to get 7 shots that are higher powered than the dragonfly it's just I like going out and shooting in the forest and carrying the hand pump you need a snowboarders back pack to carry it . It's been a full year since I built my own pcp trying to get away from Buying Co2 all the time . For me it hurts less to buy the needed items for pcp fun in stages . Now I can consider some of the nicer pcp guns for purchase, pretty sure the Beeman Bullpup in 25 cal will be my next purchase. When the tax return comes . I like getting guns I think will go up in price . I bought my crosman icon for 199 bucks and now I see they go for 270 . The Beeman underlever is same the next lowest-priced Bullpup is 600 bucks from Benjamin . I currently own the 2 pcp carbines I built myself from 2240 pistols and my Crosman Icon with a Buckrail-line Chasis installed. Take the hassle out of pumping by getting a compressor and you are golden

@@jasonnealey8325 I actually meant for my comment to be directed to Indiana Airguns. I just can’t get excited to buy an air compressor that’ll require maintenance and eventually wear out far sooner than any airgun I buy. Plus it’ll take up space in my garage and make me feel like a slug and too lazy to pump up my gun for use in what is already a very sedentary sport. Spring or gas piston guns don’t provide the recoilless experience that is so enjoyable when shooting a pneumatic or PCP airgun. Hiking around carrying a heavy, oversized bicycle pump in a backpack is unappealing to me.

I really like the trigger on this gun. I didn’t realize how much of a difference a good trigger makes when shooting long distance until I was shooting it at 50 yds after the video last night. My stock 362 trigger simply doesn’t compare. I have reservations about the pump linkage longevity over time. But it also doesn’t seem to have as much stress on it while pumping so we’ll see. I quite like the gun and plan to shoot it a lot more. I’m curious if my initial hang ups with aspects of the gun will go away with time? Right now I’m not a fan of 15 pumps for full power.
@yoitired

@@airgunsofalaska I just came in from shooting the 1101s, the trigger is so bad it's like going back to cave man times vs the fly/rider lol. I was surprised you found the Dragonfly pumping about equal to the 362! The 362 isn't bad for pumping, I just assumed the Fly would be much better, guess that's what they wanted me to think😄 I had been taking some mental notes on the power differences between the pumpers, if I got it right the Dragonfly gives you around the same power per pump as the 362 and anything over 8 on the Dragonfly is just gravy. Any issues with Crosman pellets jamming in the mag? I found they tend to cus they're short and the mag chambers are long to accommodate heavy pellets. I tilt the muzzle up and give it a shake to slide the pellets to the rear before cycling and that stopped the jamming, idk of other mag systems are like that.

I picked one up last winter, loved it. it broke in well and shot great, was my long range rifle. After 300 or so pellets the pump mechanism started to bind, it was lubed but, kept getting worse until it really did bind. I was able to barely close it, almost bending everything and sent it back to Air Venturi. 5 weeks later i get it back, put my scope and suppressor on it, within 6 shots, it binds up again... I sent it back again for "re-evaluation"... will see what they do, i really did enjoy the rifle. Maybe just got a bad one, i hope they replace and not repair it this time.

Initially I started off quite enamored with the gun (aside from the pumping action). But as time progressed I grew to dislike this airgun more and more with time. I never could warm up to the awkward pumping action but, more critically, the accuracy was not acceptable past 35 yards. I cover the issue in follow up videos and finally just gave up on the airgun and sent it back. I had reservations about the lightly built pumping linkage so your experience is very interesting. To me that’s unacceptable. My department store quality 42 year old, Crosman 760 has thousands or shots though it and the pumping linkage still works just fine. The seals are now worn but the mechanical linkage is solid.

I like the looks, handling and shooting of my dragon fly mk2. Like yours the pumping action on mine has been quirky. Once it felt like it had locked up mid pump. I oiled all the joints and it pumped better. Then the screws came lose on the pump handle. After retightening it has been ok so far. It is easier to pump than my Benjamin’s when going to higher power shots. I have noticed as well that it takes some force to open the pump. I have some arthritis in my hands and this pump makes it a little uncomfortable since a firm grip is needed to pull the pump open. But overall I like it. I ordered a 100 year anniversary Crosman 362. When it arrives I’ll have to see how it compares to the dragonfly.

I greatly dislike the nature of its pumping action with that resistance present when pulling the pump open. I noticed yesterday that it’s smoothed up a bit but still doesn’t pump as easy as my 362. ive got my rifle now and I also have some complaints but ive also found some things i like. I need to secure the pump handle better, imo this is the worst point of quality on the rifle is the securing screws attaching the pump to the wood handle. HOWEVER -- i am thinking i might use this rifle as a dedicated dieseling rig. Making o-ring repairs is pretty simple on this gun -- I started unintentionally dieseling this rifle and got the FPS to a screaming 1075, with NO supersonic crack or louder noise , still very soft and suppressed shot even at a dieseled 1075fps. Thats extremely exciting to me from a ballistics perspective -- 1000+ with lead 14.3s, quietly, with minimal recoil, and even when seals give out they are easy to reset.
@airgunsofalaska
@airgunsofalaska 11 ай бұрын
I’ve never heard of dieseling a pneumatic gun before. As I recall the Seneca had an o-ring located at the breech and the pellets would rub on it as they loaded. I wasn’t fond of this system. I like the probe to be equipped with the o-ring for sealing. I think that’s a less trouble prone layout.

@@airgunsofalaska yeah I didnt do it on purpose. I sprayed a bunch of Clenzoil into the wooden pump handle recesses. I think it worked its way into the gun because my Chronograph started giving me full power velocities of 850, 900, and then the peak was the 1073fps reading. Still shot quiet and soft even at 1073 I was amazed. Not dieseling it anymore though at all because the Dragonfly Mk2 is running great after Ive broken it in and tightened the rifle up and polished it all out. Its giving me 715-725fps at full power which im thrilled about. Making open-sights impacts at 70yd freehand with this thing at full power. If I can work out a couple other quirks on this thing its going to be a keeper i think

Hey champ. You need to clean the barrel and put some oil on all the linkage hinge points and a drop or two on the felt wiper in the pump tube BEFORE you shoot it. This will take care of the "grittiness' as you put it. Also. the pump handle screws may need to be tightened as they tend to work loose. Also, it is possible to adjust the trigger to get a better break point. But I don't advise it for anyone who is not mechanically inclined. Also, make sure you keep an eye on the muzzle adapter. It has the tendency to come loose while shooting. This can affect accuracy and you won't know why until you discover it. Put a couple wraps of teflon tape on the threads or a drop of blue locktite to keep it from working loose. Other than that, its a great air rifle for the price.
@airgunsofalaska
@airgunsofalaska Жыл бұрын
Like the vast majority of airgun owners I shot the gun just like it comes out of the box. This gun literally started falling apart on the first day. A loose muzzle adapter wasn’t the cause of the inaccuracy I experienced in later videos, the barrel brace assembly doesn’t prevent the barrel from moving. For the price the gun is a junk show. An airgunner would be much better off buying a Benjamin 392/397S. That gun is far higher quality and much more accurate for long distance shooting. A Crosman C362 is much easier to pump than the Drangonfly.

@@frankm1776 Perhaps, that’s always a possibility, but I’m skeptical. I’ve not seen any videos showing it being consistently accurate at 50 yards. My Benjamin 397S is consistently accurate at 50 yards. I also absolutely hated the pumping feel of the gun. That was ironic since low pumping effort is the most touted feature of the Dragonfly. I found it to be a total gimmick. My Crosman 362 is easier to pump, plus doesn’t require twice the pumps for full power. It has a lot of cool features and is pretty innovative compared to what Crosman/Benjamin & Daisy are currently offering in pneumatics. All said and done if I could only buy one I’d get a Benjamin 397 or 392 depending on what caliber you want. It’s a really solid gun, well built and my 397S was night and day more accurate than the Dragonfly. But the Benjamins take more effort to pump but you don’t have to pump them as much. It's an interesting gun for sure....still, for that money, I'd rather have a good piston or c02 gun; speaking of great Chinese guns, my buddy has a QB78 tuned by the late, great Gene Sunday over twenty years ago and that thing still shoots great and has an amazing trigger.....I sold mine to my cousin years ago and regret it now... From what I've seen, the Dragonfly doesn't really perform THAT well power wise vs number of pumps, but maybe they vary a bit...if you mount a scope, be careful of the smallish receiver and watch the front sight barrel band...I've heard those can create barrel tension and affect accuracy....might have to remove it in that event.. I really hope you get that Crosman 2200 up and running again; I've always want one of those guns...hehe I think Henry Ford sells seal kits for $20-30 or so, plus he can rebuild guns too if need be .. I’m wondering if something happened to my gun since installing the scope. Towards the end of my last video on it the accuracy just went away. It started shooting quite erratically, like flyers one after another. This all with using the same pellets out of the same tin. I’m going to clean the barrel today and see if that cures it. I’ll check the front barrel band. I was very pleased with the accuracy initially and even started thinking this was going to be my new favorite gun when I first started shooting it. But now that I’ve spent time shooting it the weird pumping action and need for additional pumps is getting really old. Hopefully the pumping action smooths out over time so it has less resistance on pulling it open. If for some reason the pumping action gets worse this gun will,end up gathering dust in a corner next to other airguns I found I don’t like shooting as much.

I watched all his videos on this gun before I ordered it. I think that maybe my camera angle made it appear that I wasn’t getting as much extension? I just watched that video in your link and didn’t think mine pumped any differently. I shot it some more tonight and I’m not sure I’m 100% sold on its “easy pumping effort” design. It’s certainly easier to pump up than a Benjamin and marginally easier than a Crosman 362. But 15 pumps for full power gets old quickly.

I’m glad I ordered it through Amazon as returning it was no hassle. I don’t miss it at all and I replaced it with a Benjamin 397S. I much prefer the 397S over the Dragonfly.

@@airgunner0335 the big downside to the Benjamin is mounting a scope is a hassle and the only really decent mount costs around $50 from Baker.

@@airgunner0335 unfortunately that is the big problem with the 397S & 392S. The new synthetic stock has way too high of a comb to shoot the gun comfortably with iron sights. It isn’t like you can’t, it’s just quite awkward and unpleasant.
