Am from Equatorial Guinea in the year 2001 I graduated from the university of Port harcourt (UNIPORT) I lived in Nigeria for over 5 years. Nigerians are more interested in making fast money, no matter the risks. It’s frightening the way the youths only see $ sign . ITS DISGUSTING !!!

In all these, the youths have to stand up for their rights. Youths are the ones that encourage the attractions that are happening with the electorial process. If all the youths vote is right defend their votes, all those people mentioned above will fail.

The taste of the pudding is in the eating. Speaking very well and being able to criticize everyone except himself do nit automatically transform to good leadership. Even in his little party ANC, before the general elections he still had issues internally with stakeholders in the party, though this isn't uncommon, but the point is that it's not always easy as said.

Thank you Sowere you named it on the head. Nigerian youths are only after being PAs and traveling up and down. 53 years is still very viable to be a president. Senegal has many tribes but almost everyone speaks Wolof as lingua franca (the language of the former Jollof empire). Therefore people easily understand each other culturally. French is still the official language due to colonial mindsets of old presidents (associating European languages with elitism) but this would change to Wolof soon.

That tax inspector title is not a lowly job. Diomaye has a degree in law. He also passed a difficult civil service exam to enter a rigorous institute for Taxation and Finance. He had his choice of several government ministries after passing the exam but Taxation was his choice. Senegalese tend to be highly educated and most attend local universities. If they are not university educated, they are usually trained in some trade. They also have a large diaspora population that sends all their income to further rebuild their country. I recently learned about diaspora Nigerians building village mansions that cost one million dollars but they only visit once a year. You will never see that in Senegal. If they build anything, it would be a small factory or a high rise building to rent as offices and apartments. They invest in their villages by supporting agriculture and they build modern but simple homes for their extended families

Are they that naive not to know that bad governance and corrupt politicians affect every Nigerians. My brother just shared with me an article about the Lagos to Calabar highway construction that has gone through presidents, Jonathan, Buhari, and Now Tinubu. Now, everything is being done in secrecy. A company that has done business with Tinubu in the past is now involved in this project. Can any reasonable Nigerian tell me how a president is involved in a project and why the secrecy? In Yoruba, emilokan means it's my turn to become the president of Nigeria. As if the presidency is now a birth right. By the time Tinubu leaves the presidency, he would have probably become a BILLIONAIRE. After all, he became super wealthy after he left the governor of Lagos state. None of your leaders are actually interested in serving the citizens of Nigeria. They're getting away with all the nonsense because they do nothing Nigerians.

Yakubu Gowon became the Nigeria head of state at the age of 31. The youngest person to become head of state . Unfortunately, he left Nigeria in disarray. Ibrahim Babangida was 44 years. He left Nigeria is total economic and social downturn. Sani Abacha was 50 years. We all know what happened. Goodluck Jonathan was 52. Shehu Shagari was 54. Hence, the youthfulness of a leader is not a guarantee for development and doing the right thing. This Senegalese man became a leader because he is/was against French colonial mentality to Francophone countries. He wants French to leave Senegal economy and politics. And the people agreed with him.

High percentage of Nigeria youth are selfish and lazy in thinking. All they focused on is how to make quick money. Future plans are not common among them. Even including Sowore himself. If we recollect, some year years back, Sowore party members accused him of using the party funds to sleep in a hotel of 150k per night. He never commented or denied the allegations until today. Betta Edu is an example of Nigeria youth. Everyone demands for youth, just as if the youth are going to be imported from foreign countries.

What Sowore failed to realize is that Faye undoubtedly clinched victory in the Senegalese Presidential election due to the absence of corrupt electoral umpire who might arbitrarily change the rules mid-game or exploit technicalities - (technical glitches). Unlike the troubling scenarios witnessed in Nigerian elections, Senegal's political landscape remains relatively free from the divisive tactics of tribal and religious manipulation, which often serve as potent weapons for Nigeria's morally bankrupt leaders. Furthermore, unlike the unethical practices seen elsewhere, Senegalese politicians, particularly the seasoned veterans, refrain from resorting to the mobilization of street gangs to secure electoral success at any cost. This electoral ethos, devoid of deceit and manipulation, ensures that the legitimacy of Faye's win remains untainted by suspicion or controversy, setting a compelling example for democratic governance across the region. I only hope that Nigeria political leaders do not corrupt Faye. ~ Kexter E.A. Donald Jr.

The main fact is that the SENEGALI SYSTEM IS NOT CORRUPT LIKE NIGERIAN SYSTEM. Moreover, the old politicians in that country are fully aware that their military are more than prepared to boot them out just like their neighboring fellow French speaking countries.

Sowore should learn the power of unity of purpose. Faye was not the first to be on the ballot of the party with which he won president. He switched roles with Sonko when the Senegalese government under Marky Sall became too focused on sending Sonko to prison. Sonko went into the trench and threw support behind Faye. See the result. Victory! Sowore will never do that. He only likes noise and transactional politics that made him support Buhari over Jonathan. Sowore just want to be president at all cost ...just him and no other person. That is insane. He sees nothing good in any other person but himself. He went into alliance meeting with the likes of Fela Durutoye and others in the build up to the 2019 or 2023 elections but he botched the outcome of that alliance because it didn't favor him. Sowore is just seeking relevance and not committed to the liberation of the Nigerian people. His numerous attacks on Mr Peter Obi towards the last general election and inability to see that Peter Obi is better positioned to win than himself shows him as a very selfish individual bereft of ideas to rescue a nation. He is just good at critics and that is all.

Great analysis! The real success of Faye’s win is the humility and cooperation demonstrated with Sonko. Strategy is always essential. People talk the good pan African talk but only want to be the chosen “one”. This has been the stagnation of many political alliance/coalitions. The greed of men and preoccupation with the poison of power will always be the downfall of humans. This is the real question and psychological analysis we need to reconcile. The ultimate inner struggle with ourselves.
