Sengoku BASARA Games Tier List

Ranking all the currently playable BASARA games, this doesn't include the Mobile game which has since been discontinued.
I have tried to explain most of what the games involve, but let's face it, if you are watching this then you will probably have some base knowledge on the games.

I hope capcom bring back this franchise someday, and also put some effort in localizing it too. It's kinda funny to think that Capcom gave up on the global market of this franchise just because they butchered the first game (Devil King).

I was under the impression they gave up because SB3 got bad reviews and was heavily compared to games like Dynasty warriors which at the time reviewers all said "they're all the same"

Knowing that Samurai Heroes ranks THAT low, and it’s the only one I played… and I friggin adored that game. I gotta get these other games somehow.

The only thing I missed from BASARA and BASARA 2 is the soundtrack Prayers (Character Preparation theme) and Hero (Morale 75-25 theme) are definitely my top tier BGMs The hilarious thing still on this day is how Sanada Yukimura running. Poor man cannot catch a break with those running animations. And finally only in Sanada Yukimura-den, Date Masamune can block while holding all his 6 swords (well it's technically it is not in WAR DANCE mode but still). Capcom cannot ignore this when they plan for new BASARA game in future.

Love the vids man!! The koei rare weapons channel is particularly helpful as I'm trying to 100% sw1/xl. These tier lists are fun too. Would you consider doing like a samurai warriors vs sengoku basara vid or maybe pick ya fave character from each? Would be keen to hear your perspective, even though you're obviously pretty done with sw these days haha Currently alternating between sw and sengoku basara 2, both awesome but for diff reasons

DK is for western audiences. They made a lot changes for that. So it’s just Basara theme.

It feels like basara 1-2 were more musou esque, but after dmc4 the games started adding in combos and becoming more aerial in a way musou games never had been. Basara 4 sumeragi still stands as the best musou style combat system and i think the only thing that comes close is pirate warriors 2-3. It's a shame that instead of expanding their combat they just keep finding ways to just make things more mindless rather than unique and exciting. The over reliance on skills in ip spin off games, the hyper attack system in sw, the removal of the entire charge attack system in dw9 the list goes on. The reality is that basara innovated in every single title and musou has stagnated.

@@dhani08 it's been so long since I've played 4 that I probably don't remember all of it. Iirc. They cut down on the grounded movelists to make way for aerial combat, but a lot of the aerial combat was shallow because it was just grounded combat in the air. Unlike basara or dmc where your aerial options are completely different and the whole appeal/struggle was trying to keep them in the air/just having fun with the unique options the air presented. This was probably the biggest annoyance to me because some characters had their grounded movesets neutered but their aerial options were terrible. The type system ruined some characters. This is subjective but it was a big complaint from people i knew. Iirc, most of the all state dependent actions were removed. So almost all the grapples are gone among other things. Which make alot of the cast feel similar. Skills are divisive, big fights are undercooked, strings are more committal. Probably other things I can't remember. My opinion might change if I play it again. It's been years. I just remember feeling pretty put off when I played it.

I hope one day we get the defense items back, especially since in the psp game, both adult ieyasu and mitsunari both get defense items. Which is weird since in 3 they got rid of defense items in which both adult ieyasu and mitsunari both first appeared in sengoku basara 3.

I am very concern about KZbin listening in on my convo with friends as, shortly after he said he's bringing back his Kojuro cosplay, his wife got a Masamune cosplay together, and a friend of theirs got together a Yukimura cosplay, he asked if I could either bring back Original Oichi cosplay or finally wear the alternate outfit from 3/Samurai Heroes, to join them this coming Sunday at Momo con. XD But I will not complain about Sengoku Basara content on my KZbin!

The only thing i would change would be swap Sengoku Basara X with Samurai Heroes. BasaraX isnt a good fighting game. It is fun but its unbalanced and broken. There is a lot of infinite combos you can do. Samurai Heroes sure is repetitive but i still think it is better than X. Cause comparing with the genre they belong to, samurai Heroes is considered a good game Btw, continue milking SB as long as you can.

Wait i understand about the psp ones,they are trying to make a gundam clone,hence why there's revive gauge (the blue one on top left) ,if you play Gundam in PS2 you'll understand, still bad though.

Those PSP games are bad but i remember wasting a lot of time on it. simply because only PSP is the thing i only owned back then :v was hoping for a proper basara handheld experience since then but probably won't happened anymore sad.
